The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.- James 5:16 Today thank God that He doesn’t administer to us what we deserve for our sins, but instead extends to us all mercy, grace and forgiveness. Barbara Butner , Ron Leonard, Bobby Gilstrap , Voice of Martyrs, Gospel for Asia and the Taiwan mission team have prayer requests, and I have a foreign missions report that I have forwarded below. Last month, you prayed for Wade and Barbara Akins as they returned to Brazil to lead a Pioneer Evangelism conference in Rio de Janeiro . Missionary Eric Reese writes: "We praise God for the Super Congress with Wade and Barbara. God blessed beyond anything we could imagine! We prayed for 1,000 people to be in attendance for the Pioneer Evangelism training, and 1,279 people came. We had more than 400 different churches in attendance. Among the 400 churches represented, 342 pastors and leaders responded to the invitation to start new works. Each of the 342 leaders was asked to write on the back of his/her decision card a possible location for the start of the new work(s). They indicated 429 locations. We finished the conference with a celebration service on Saturday night. Among the 779 in attendance, the following decisions were recorded: 8 salvations, 49 rededications, 13 calls to missions or full-time ministry work. Please pray for our team, as we began the Mon day following this weekend conference working with these results. Ask God to give us wisdom!"

African Studies Videos in the Harvard Libraries The acquisition of African Studies videos is expensive and labor intensive, but they represent an invaluable resource for teaching and research on Africa. At Harvard the main collection of these videos is located in Widener Library, but there are also smaller collections in the Harvard Libraries listed below. The most accurate way to determine the status of an individual African Studies video is to do a search through the HOLLIS catalogue of all Harvard Library holdings at http://lib.harvard.edu Harvard's Libraries serve the University's current faculty, students, staff, and researchers who hold valid Harvard IDs. Since policies on admittance and borrowing, hours, and services vary for each of them, it is best to contact them directly for details.

Luke and John: from hell to heaven

At 17 and 16 years old, they look like most American or European teenagers except for their vaguely Asian features. Their black hair is neatly trimmed. They speak English and another European language in well-mannered, soft tones. But as refugees from Kabul, Afghanistan, they carry a history of horrors within their souls. To the editor:

Sources for the Numbers List
This file gives the sources I've used for the [Numbers Index] Sources for the Numbers List
This page gives the sources for each language on the Numbers from 1 to 10 page . Sometimes half the work in dealing with a new language is finding out what it is, and relating it to the sometimes wildly varying classifications from Ruhlen , Voegelin, and the Ethnologue. There are notes relating to this, as well as information on dialects , and names of languages I don't have yet.
M.R.
Totals :5020 entries
-238 conlangs
-444 dead langs
-386 dialect/variant = living languages
I have 83.2% of Ruhlen's 4750 languages.
Dialects I have but not in the list: 835, so the grand total is about 5612.
