CFS can be debilitating Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also known as M.E., is a condition with a diverse range of symptoms but particularly characterised by profound muscle fatigue after physical exertion.
Some doctors have been sceptical as to whether ME/CFS exists as a real disease or is "all in the mind". However, this controversy should have been effectively ended by a report from the Chief Medical Officer for England in 2002, which concluded that ME/CFS is a genuine and disabling condition. CFS and ME are also classified by the World Health Organisation as neurological disorders. In 2004, the Department of Health announced £8.5 million of ring-fenced funding for new specialist services to deal with ME/CFS. Fifty such services are now in the process of opening or are being developed. And the Medical Research Council has recognised that further research into the illness is urgently required. Who gets it?

YEAST SYNDROME or YEAST RELATED ILLNESS
    By Elmer M. Cranton, M.D.
Terminology varies between different schools of medicine and differing theories of cause. The acronym "CFIDS" will be used in this article to refer to a clinical syndrome which can cross the boundaries and involve, more or less, any of the below
INTRODUCTION A wide variety of symptoms, as listed above, of a seemingly unrelated nature affect widely diverse parts of the body and are postulated in this paper to be caused, at least in part, by overload of the immune system and immunologic dysfunction. Stressed-out and malfunctioning immunity is described as an important and correctable common denominator in all of the above conditions. Chronic fatigue and nervous tension are almost always present. The treatment plan described in this paper has been developed by the author over many years and has brought relief to hundreds of patients who had been diagnosed with the syndromes listed above. Benefits have often been dramatic and sometimes complete after attempts with many other therapies had failed.

    Introduction: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is a syndrome that has only recently been described by the medical profession. Once controversial, it is gradually becoming accepted as a valid diagnosis by medical professionals. Typically CFS follows a viral infection (e.g. cold or viral stomach bug), and is sometimes found after mononucleosis infections. Non-specific symptoms of fatigue tiredness exhaustion , and aches make CFS difficult to diagnose and similar to other conditions such as lupus multiple sclerosis fibromyalgia and Lyme disease (among others). Overview Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complicated disorder characterized by extreme fatigue that doesn't improve with bed rest and may worsen with physical or mental activity. Of all chronic illnesses, chronic fatigue syndrome is one of the most mysterious. Unlike infections, it has no clear cause. Unlike conditions such as diabetes or anemia, there's essentially nothing to measure. And unlike conditions such as heart disease, there are relatively few treatment options. Chronic fatigue syndrome may occur after an infection such as a cold or viral syndrome. It can start during or shortly after a period of high stress or come on gradually without any clear starting point or any obvious cause. Chronic fatigue syndrome is a flu-like condition that can drain your energy and sometimes last for years. People previously healthy and full of energy may experience a variety of symptoms, including extreme fatigue, weakness and headaches as well as difficulty concentrating and painful joints, muscles and lymph nodes.

Chronic fatigue syndrome more than being tired
By Eleni Berger CNN (CNN) Imagine getting only three or four hours of sleep a night for eight years. Then having a pain as severe as a toothache throughout the entire body at the same time. Add to that the feeling that memory is fading. That's what life can be like for people who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), says Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, an internist who specializes in treating this mysterious illness. "This is a serious disease that can destroy people's lives," says Teitelbaum, who directs the Annapolis Research Center for Effective Fibromyalgia and CFS Therapies in Annapolis, Maryland. He became interested in the illness after succumbing to it in medical school in 1975. "There was not even a name for it back then," recalls Teitelbaum, who says he battled the disease for years before being cured.

CFSResearch.org Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Introduction : Welcome to my Website on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS, CFIDS, M.E ) .
The site offers a large collection of FREE Research Publications on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ( CFS ) collected out of different medical journals.
The goal of this website is to build a large collection of Research articles on the subject freely available to CFS patients, Doctors and other people that would like to find out more about this mysterious disease. Indeed, I call it a mysterious disease because after over a decade, science still hasn't been able to establish the cause and offer a proper treatment. There even isn't a 100% reliable diagnostic marker that proves you have CFS, now CFS is still an exclusion of possible related illnesses with the same symptoms as we have.
Research for the cause and for a good diagnostic test is very poor, very little money is put into Research, especially Government Research is next to nothing.
I hope the near future will bring hope for the CFS patients and that scientists start working together instead of remaining in their own corner and share what they know.

    Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • What Is It? Symptoms Diagnosis Expected Duration ... Additional Info
  • What Is It? Chronic fatigue syndrome is a complicated illness characterized by at least six months of extreme fatigue that is not relieved by rest, and a group of additional symptoms that also are constant for at least six months. In many people with chronic fatigue syndrome, the disorder begins suddenly, often following a flulike infection or an episode of physical or psychological trauma, such as surgery, a traumatic accident or the death of a loved one. In other cases, chronic fatigue syndrome develops gradually. The illness lasts for many months or years, and only a small percentage of people recover full health.

      What's New?
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and the Yeast Connection By William G. Crook, M.D.
During the past seven or eight years, professionals and the public have been reading and hearing about a disorder that in the words of Dr. David Bell of New York is a "disease with a thousand names." Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). Although this disorder has been described for decades, even centuries, it came to the attention of the public following a 1984 outbreak which affected several hundred people in Incline Village, Nevada, a resort town on the shores of Lake Tahoe. It initially was called the Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus Syndrome (CEBVS). However, laboratory studies showed that a lot of people with this disorder did not have elevated levels of antibodies to the Epstein-Barr virus. In the spring of 1988, the name was changed to the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. And that's the name most people have been using. However, Dr. Paul Cheney and associates in North Carolina have suggested another name, Chronic Fatigue And Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CFIDS). Still other people didn't like that name either because they felt that the word "fatigue" in the name trivialized the disorder. And they suggested still another name, Chronic Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CIDS).
