One Man's Recovery Click here to Enter the Site I welcome the opportunity to exchange links with other responsible sites. Please contact me by clicking here I was recently diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. This is recognized by mainstream doctors and research is being conducted at some of the most prestigious universities in the country and yet it is frequently overlooked. I strongly believe that everyone with chronic fatigue should be checked for this condition, especially if they snore. I have also been having good progress by taking vitamin D over the last few months. My very painful sciatica is gone. My prostate has improved quite a bit. My dentist is shocked at how much my gums and teeth have suddenly improved. The site has been rearranged to reflect these I've created an entirely new section for them. Chronic fatigue can also be caused by parathyroid problems. It is much more common than people think and doctors usually don't look for it. Welcome to my web-site. It contains information not only on CFS, but also irritable bowel syndrome and fibromyalgia. (Many people that have one also have the others.)

C hronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), also referred to as chronic fatigue immune deficiency syndrome, is a disabling illness characterized by persistent fatigue accompanied by rheumatologic, cognitive, and infectious-appearing symptoms. Despite intense medical research, there is no known cause for CFS, but it appears to be a heterogeneous disorder which affects multiple systems, including hormonal, neurologic, and immunologic. Because there are no specific diagnostic tests or physical findings for CFS, diagnosis requires knowledge of possible symptoms and a method of exclusion. CFS is likely a spectrum of illnesses sharing a common pathogenesis with varying degrees of fatigue and associated symptoms. Other disorders, such as fibromyalgia, have overlapping symptoms with CFS, suggesting that both diseases may share common physiologic abnormalities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's criteria for diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome require the patient to present with severe fatigue lasting at least six consecutive months, have no definable organic disease, and experience associated physical symptoms.

Chronic fatigue syndrome Note: This draft has been superseded by the Revised guidelines published as a supplement to The Medical Journal of Australia on 6 May 2002. Here is the first draft Clinical Practice Guidelines on the evaluation of prolonged fatigue and the diagnosis and management of chronic fatigue syndrome Produced by a Working Group convened by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians This document was produced as an exposure draft by a Working Group seeking constructive criticism from doctors and other health professionals, learned professional bodies, people with CFS and their carers, and any others with an interest in this condition. The Working Group received a great deal of feedback from health professionals and people with CFS, but did not produce another draft of the guidelines. Because many readers who commented on the draft have found it useful, the MJA will continue to make it available here. Version 1

Parents Caring for a Seriously or Chronically Ill Child
Sixteen-year-old Samantha is always exhausted. For months she's had swollen glands and weakness. She has difficulty concentrating in school, frequently has headaches, and finds it hard to get out of bed most mornings. Although Samantha's parents suspect she's involved in too many activities, they have also begun to worry because her grades have plummeted and her symptoms have worsened. When Samantha and her parents visit the doctor to try to find out what's wrong, the doctor takes a detailed history of Samantha's symptoms, paying careful attention to how long they have been going on. After a full physical examination and several blood tests, it is determined that Samantha has a condition known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). What Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
Chronic fatigue syndrome is a noncontagious disease that was first recognized as a physical illness in the 1980s and remains the subject of a great deal of controversy. Even now, as increasing numbers of people are being diagnosed with the disease, there are still many people inside and outside the health professions who doubt its existence or maintain that it's a psychological ailment. But several years of research have confirmed that CFS is indeed a physical illness - just one that's not fully understood. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it is estimated that as many as half a million people in the United States have a CFS-like condition.

What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)?
Having chronic fatigue syndrome , or CFS, means more than just getting tired. With the busy lives American women lead, we all get tired from time to time. But, the fatigue with CFS is extreme and overwhelming, and doesn't get better with bed rest. And, it is often made worse with physical or mental activity. This illness seems to happen all of a sudden - one day you may notice that you are very tired and can't manage your normal activities. Your energy level is lower and you often get tired for no reason. You may also feel weak and have muscle pain, difficulty focusing, or insomnia (not being able to sleep). After you engage in physical activity or exert yourself, you may feel tired for more than 24 hours. The extreme fatigue may then come and go, giving you times when your energy level is normal. Sometimes, though, the extreme tiredness never stops, leaving you feeling exhausted and depleted all the time. You notice that you can't get done in a day what you normally would have been able to, before having this condition. CFS is diagnosed only when other possible causes of the fatigue are ruled out, and the fatigue has lasted for at least 6 months. There are treatments to help a person cope with CFS, some of which include medication. Sometimes CFS goes away on its own or a person can have long periods of time, even years, without symptoms.

from Dr. Poesnecker I realize that many, if not most of you have been told there is no effective treatment for your condition. That you must just "learn to live with it." Our experience has demonstrated otherwise. The underlying causes of these conditions are known and so also are effective treatments. While we have no magic cure, with the cooperation of the individual, we have been able to return thousands of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, CFIDS and Fibromyalgia patients to active productive lives by the methods we have developed and taught over the last forty-five years. We can also help you if you are ready to start living once again. Below you will find links to many articles describing the methods we use to help individuals successfully overcome these devastating and humiliating conditions. Once you have had an opportunity to puruse these, the next step on your road to recovery is to take an Adrenal Stress Index test (ASI) from DiagnosTech labs of Seattle, Washington. We have tried many other labs, but this is the only one whose results have been really useful in helping our patients. Concurrent with taking the ASI test you should be studying
