resources n The teacher of calligraphy must attend not only to the final product in assessment, but to the process through which it is created. For example, take note of the criteria below as an in-progress assessment:
1. Are the students demonstrating awareness of rules for sitting with good posture and writing with the proper hand position?
2. Are the students trying to follow the basic principles for composing Chinese characters?
3. Are the students demonstrating an understanding of the balance, elegance and rhythm of Chinese calligraphy?
4. How much are they concentrating on their works? Are they demonstrating patience and effort?
6. At the end of the activity, are they handling the paper carefully, washing the brush and ink stone, and storing all the materials properly? Formative assessments can be conducted throughout the lesson through teacher observation and monitoring of practice, or through pair share and presentation activities.

However, they also provide many advantages that are not possible in cardboard flashcards, such as instant dictionary reference, interactive pronunciation, and session statistics.
Standard Features
  • Easy to use. No need to download any software. Extra large size prompt of Chinese characters. Fast response even on dial-up Internet connections. Unlike generic flashcards, our virtual card decks match each textbook chapter or word list for greater effectiveness with your lesson plan. Study mode allows for easy review of the answers. Word recognition mode will prompt you with a Chinese character while the answer side will show all the appropriate details.

CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY Lesson Plan Calligraphy literally means "beautiful writing" and Chinese calligraphy is the artistic writing of characters basic to the Chinese language. It is written right to left and vertically. It is considered an elegant art form, as well as a written language and has been around for nearly 4000 years. Calligraphy has always been considered equal or even superior to painting. In this activity, students become acquainted with calligraphy and Chinese characters. Univ. of California opens Beijing school
    BEIJING
A campus of the University of California, which has a prestigious reputation in China, has opened a school in Beijing for Chinese students to study English while avoiding the hassles of getting U.S. visas.
On Monday, the University of California at Riverside began classes at its Beijing International Education Center in a downtown office building after eight months of preparations.
Fourteen students have enrolled so far, but after an ad blitz, the school expects up to 600 this year and up to 3,000 after building a separate Beijing campus from next year.
Foreign schools like the University of California that offer Chinese students academic credits are a growing phenomenon in China, but U.S. universities are relatively few here. Many Chinese students want to study at U.S. universities, preferably in the United States, but student visas are hard to get, students say.
