COURSES IN Buddhist Studies (Division 332)
220/Asian Studies 220/Rel. 202. Introduction to World Religions: South and East Asia. (4). (HU). 406. Classical Tibetan. Permission of instructor. (3). (Excl). This course is designed to train students of Buddhist Studies in the basic skills necessary for reading Tibetan literature; it is not a class in spoken (colloquial) Tibetan. The plan of the course assumes that the student's primary interest is in the study of Buddhist literature. Accordingly, much time will be spent in reading Buddhist literature (autochthonous as well as in translation from Indic languages). The course offers explanations in the phonology of literary Tibetan ("Lhasa Dialect"), nominal derivation, syntax of the nominal particles, verbal conjugation and suffixes, and the standard script (dbu-can). In the second term all reading exercises will be taken directly from classical sources (primarily from the works of Bu-ston, Taranatha, and Kamalasila).

We also try to give some advice that might help you in getting software and guides not available on CTAN.
New packages on CTAN and package updates are announced on the tex-announce list which is also available as a blog and rss feed
Every systematical order is arbitrary in some way or another. This is why entries may appear in more than one place. The following order generally tries to keep to that of the "The LaTeX Companion", 1st ed., by Goosens, Mittelbach, and Samarin.
This is very much a work in progress, so suggestions to the maintainer are quite welcome.

We have reason to believe that many of Japan's hottest high-tech startups will come from this region, which includes Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. It's got the incubators, the universities and computer science students, and the networking communities. And a peculiar knack for online retailing. by Kyoko Fujimoto
    Date: March 2001 issue
URL: http://www.japaninc.net/mag/comp/2001/03/mar01_kansai.html Kansai is ... unique. Unique for its spirit, dialect, comedians, history, food, and, more important to J@pan Inc, business culture. There's a mercantile mindset here, ages old. Moukatte makka? has for generations been a common greeting. It means, "How's your business?" If that's an age-old way to begin small talk here ... well, let's put it this way: according to the Kansai Economic Federation, this portion of Japan, which many foreigners don't even know about, has the seventh-largest economy in the world. Bigger than China's, Russia's, or Canada's. We thus have reason to believe that many of Japan's hottest high-tech startups will come from here. Indeed, more than a few already have ... THE PROBLEM IS LACK of media coverage, both in Japanese and English. From outside Kansai, it's nearly impossible to know what's going on here. Bit Valley stole the New Economy limelight. This magazine is guilty, too. Despite our awareness of Kansai's importance, we can count on one hand the number of times we've covered in any detail the area or companies in it. Perhaps it's laziness: like nearly all major media in Japan, we're headquartered in Tokyo, so covering Bit Valley is simply easier. Hence only a few Kansai tech startups have received any significant attention. Examples include MagMag, Digital Design, and Cybozu. The latter, a Hot Startup in our

    Launched BestWebQuests.com
    • BestWebQuests.com springs from the fact that people have been creating "WebQuests" since 1995. This term has become a buzzword in the world of education. Couple "buzzword" with "time" (as measured in Web years) and you've got an exponential number of WebQuests. Or do you? Many educators have expressed frustration that some "WebQuests"... aren't. Because time is always in short supply, teachers wanted a place to go where they could know for certain that the WebQuests listed, not only involve some higher order thinking, but require students to "transform information into understanding."
