    Chinese Major and Minor
    1. I am interested in taking Chinese language classes. How do I know which class is right for me? Every student must take a placement test before taking Chinese language classes. See FAQs about Chinese placement test
    2. If I cannot get into the language class I want, can I take a higher level for now and take a lower level later?
No. This is called “back-tracking” and violates university policy. For example, if you have taken CHN 3BL and then take CHN 2BL in a subsequent quarter, the lower class result would become invalid. Similarly, you cannot take CHN 120 (advanced Chinese) and then take 111, 112, or 113 (third-year Chinese) later. However, CHN 130, 131, 132, 140, 160, and literature courses can be taken out of sequence.

Van Sambeek Slippery elm (Ulmus rubra), identified by its "slippery" inner bark, is commonly a medium-sized tree of moderately fast growth that may live to be 200 years old. Sometimes called red elm, gray elm, or soft elm, this tree grows best and may reach 40 m (132 ft) on moist, rich soils of lower slopes and flood plains, although it may also grow on dry hillsides with limestone soils. It is abundant and associated with many other hardwood trees in its wide range. Slippery elm is not an important lumber tree; the hard strong wood is considered inferior to American elm even though they are often mixed and sold together as soft elm. The tree is browsed by wildlife and the seeds are a minor source of food. It has long been cultivated but succumbs to Dutch elm disease.
    Habitat
    Native Range
Slippery elm extends from southwestern Maine west to New York, extreme southern Quebec, southern Ontario, northern Michigan, central Minnesota, and eastern North Dakota; south to eastern South Dakota, central Nebraska, southwestern Oklahoma, and central Texas; then east to northwestern Florida and Georgia. Slippery elm is uncommon in that part of its range lying south to Kentucky and is most abundant in the southern part of the Lake States and in the cornbelt of the Midwest (8).

How much can you make writing Oracle books?
I get this question a lot, but it's the wrong focus to have. If you're doing this for the money, spend your time elsewhere in more lucrative endeavors. There is money to be made in books, but you'll be surprised at the amount of work it takes.
    Why is that?
Figure it this way: if you're really good, you'll crank out a finished page in an hour (that's incorporating writing time, editing time, reviews, more edits, etc). So for a 500 page book, you'll spend at least 500 hours. If you've never done this before, double that time estimate. If you know enough to write a book, then you know enough to be a consultant. Say you charge $100 an hour as a consultant. If you spent your writing time consulting, you'd make $50,000. Unless your book fills an intense need, you may not see enough sales to hit that amount of royalties.
