The Childrens Safety Education Foundation
Who we are
The Children’s Safety Education Foundation exists to help save children’s lives! It achieves this by providing educational material to children on many aspects of personal safety and citizenship, so helping to protect them against the risks they face in everyday life. Among the educational areas covered are:- self esteem bullying drug and alcohol awareness personal safety internet safety crime reduction in both the home and in the community. Through this material we encouraging the children to respect themselves, others and their community!
They have been developed through the eyes of the child ,a method of approach that we believe has a greater impact in helping children understand how to avoid the dangers they may face. The materials are provided free of charge to schools and youth organisations, funded mainly from businesses local to them. The Foundation is a registered charity (No. 1103344) and its stated object is "to promote and further the personal safety, social, health and citizenship education of children and young people throughout the United Kingdom and Eire, encouraging their study needs through the written word and also promotion of public interest in Personal Safety and Citizenship". It has a board of Trustees consisting of:- Lord Wade, chairman, who has significant experience in fundraising including the successful appeal for Christies hospital that raised £25 million in two years.

Children's Mercy Hospital recognizes that health education should continue when a child leaves the hospital or clinic. Our staff depends on caregivers and parents in the community to teach children about health and safety issues. To assist these caregivers, Children's Mercy has created this database of health information. Known popularly as "Care Cards," we have assembled more than 300 different "cards." Each easy-to-read card addresses a health topic such as common colds, cuts and scrapes, fever, head lice and poison ivy. The cards are reviewed and updated regularly, and they are used throughout the hospital, in both inpatient and outpatient areas, as well as throughout the community.
