Information The Niagara Children's Museum, founded in 1997, is a community development project of the Niagara Falls Art Gallery's Education Department. After two years of experimental hands-on exhibitions the Museum officially opened to the public on June 1, 1999.
Sharing space and programming with the Niagara Falls Art Gallery , the Children's Museum supports three floors of curriculum centered exhibitions and, with its various partners, serves over 50,000 children throughout the Niagara Region as well as visitors to Niagara Falls, Canada.
The Niagara Children's Museum Network continues it's ongoing mandate to collaborate with partners from a number of communities from throughout the Niagara Region. For example: the Niagara Children's Museum - Welland opened June 9, 2001, in partnership with the Welland Historical Museum and offers both programs and hands-on exhibits; and the Niagara Children's Museum - St. Catharine's, opened in the spring of 2002, currently offers popular art classes and workshops. With the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation the Welland and St. Catharines Children's Museums have grown from experimental projects to ongoing community services.

(717) 569 5437 (KIDS) I've said it before and I'll say it again: kids get the best museums. It's unfair. Once I went to a museum and touched some crusty old thing. Alarms went off, lights flashed, and I got into big trouble. The Children's Museum of Lancaster , also known as Hands-On House, has lots of neat things that kids can touch. In fact that's the whole point! Featuring interactive exhibits for children ages 2 to 10, this great museum encourages kids to learn by playing. And they'll learn things they can really use in the future. For instance they can go shopping in the Grocery Corner , weighing potatoes, building healthy meals, and going through the checkout. Or work on an assembly line or in the mail room at the Watcha-Ma-Giggle Company . How about designing their own town in Under Construction ? Or exploring art with light in Switch on Art All of these activities and others are geared toward teaching children about things they will need to know as they grow up. They are things that they see adults do and that they want to do, too. It's a great concept. The Museum visit is entirely Self-Guided, meaning that you and your children can spend as much time as you want doing whatever strikes your fancy. But that's not all.

A Hands-On Exhibit was created by The Pittsburgh Children's Museum in collaboration with Family Communications and sponsored by a generous grant from the Grable Foundation. The exhibit invites children and families to explore, imagine, and create in a replica of Mister Rogers' television house and Neighborhood of Make-Believe. For more than 30 years, Fred Rogers has helped young and old alike value their uniqueness, appreciate others, and marvel at the wonders of the world around them. This exhibit extends the timeless messages of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood through an engaging hands-on experience.
Following its highly successful 3-year tour of the country, a 2000 square foot version of the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood Hands-On Exhibit is being refurbished and will be back on the road again in September 2003. Currently it is scheduled to be in Omaha, Nebraska from September 2003 to January 2004 and then on to Portland, Oregon from January 2004 to September 2004. If your community is interested in having the exhibit visit your neighborhood, please contact the Pittsburgh Children's Museum.
