As part of their curriculum, students are required to learn and then execute many lab techniques in their experiments. Professors DiMeglio and Ganapathi submitted a proposal to videotape six procedures for students to use for study and reference purposes both in and outside the lab. the challenge For the professors who teach these procedures regularly, understanding how to perform them is second nature. An initial challenge was translating the procedures from their minds into a comprehensive shooting script. Since the professors wanted students to have access outside the lab, a second challenge was to step outside the idea of a standard videotaped demonstration to a more dynamic concept of streaming video housed online and accessible at any time.
