Press Releases Version 6.0
Advanced Chemistry Development Provides an Analytical Informatics Solution for Effective Knowledge Management with the Release of Version 6.0
Toronto, Canada, March 18, 2002 -
With the release of version 6.0, Advanced Chemistry Development (ACD) defines an " Analytical Informatics " solution that provides enterprises with the computational tools and information systems necessary to understand analytical data, increase laboratory throughput, and disseminate results effectively. Version 6.0 of ACD software enables the enterprise to combine tools for the casual user with complete solutions for enterprise communication to achieve effective knowledge management at every level within the organization. ACD provides solutions to integrate information. While each piece of ACD/Labs software stands on its own as an advantageous tool, they have been specifically designed so that when taken together, a comprehensive analytical data management system with dramatic feed-forward effects on the chemical research process is created. ACD/SpecManager SQL is the "umbrella program" used by enterprises to access, process, organize, and manage all types of experimental data through a single interface. The Oracle client-server architecture enables several users to work with the same database at once, ensuring the seamless integration of analytical data and results from all areas within the enterprise.

Today's Chemist at Work,
CHEMISTRY ON THE WEB: A NEW APPROACH TO CHEMICAL DISCOVERY
For chemists, intranet technologies are now delivering a new way to facilitate communication across disciplines and among researchers without having to worry about which group is using PCs, Macs, or workstations
Michael Sullivan
The complexion of chemical discovery is ever-changing. New technologies and new methods are always contributing to the advancement of the discovery process. However, today a virtual revolution is taking place within research organizations worldwide in an effort to apply Internet and Web technologies. The Internet's World Wide Web may be the most important technology to emerge in the 1990s - not because of the vast worldwide resources that are available but because of what has become possible using internal company networks, or intranets. These technologies hold promise for efficient communication across disciplines. They offer ways of handling the tremendous volumes of data generated by today's research - including high- throughput and combinatorial chemistry programs - and provide a means of platform-independent data sharing. For chemists, intranet technologies facilitate communication among researchers without having to worry about who is using PCs, Macintoshes, or workstations. In addition, through the availability of intranet development tools specifically designed for chemists, the applications possibilities for data exchange and analysis are almost unlimited. The new generation of tools available for intranets makes customization not only possible but advantageous. The ability to design intranet applications that are practical for a specific research site provides a new range of access and exploration possibilities.
