WELCOME TO
Thanks for visiting! Right now you're on CHEM4KIDS.COM . If you are looking for chemistry basics, stay on this site. You can start by choosing one of the sections above. We have information on matter atoms elements , the periodic table reactions and biochemistry . If you're still not sure what to click, try our site map that will show you all of the topics we cover. If you surf the site and get lost in all of the information, use the search function on the side of the pages.
OKAY! As we have for over seven years, let's start here...
So you're asking, what is CHEMISTRY ? Well... Here's our best definition. Chemistry is the study of MATTER and the changes that take place with that matter.
Don't ask us why that matters. It just does. A lot. Everything on Earth, everything in our solar system, everything in our galaxy, and everything in the universe is made up of matter. Matter is the name scientists have given to everything that you can touch, or see, or feel, or smell. Go take a look!
That's it for the introduction. Now its up to you to click and have fun!

Welcome to the Theoretical Inorganic Chemistry Group
We are currently exploring the dynamics of metal oxide surfaces and its relation to catalysis. Another project is the solvent/ligand exchange dynamics around metal ions in solution. Finally, we're always working on one aspect or another related to molecular crystals and how their properties develop as we go from "molecule cluster crystal". Main methods: MD simulation, QC calculation, and mixes thereof.
Available positions and diploma projects ("exjobb").

The history of friction matches dovetails with the discovery and refinements for isolating the element phosphorus . In theory, you could make your own matches using ye olde alchemical recipe for phosphorus (it was supposed to produce you guessed it gold), which involves collecting a vat of urine, allowing it to sit to the point of putrefaction, and then boiling it down into a paste. The paste is then heated to a high enough temperature so that the vapors can be condensed in water into phosphorus. One you have the phosphorus, you've got an essential ingredient for one form of match, since phosphorus can spontaneously ignite upon exposure to air. I very highly recommend

Atmospheric Chemistry Glossary
2005 Version The definitions in this glossary were initially generated by the students in a senior level class studying air quality and atmospheric chemistry at Sam Houston State University during the spring of 1995 in a course entitled Environmental Science 440/Chemistry 442, AIR QUALITY. In the main, they wrote these definitions as part of a class requirement. The references found at the end of most entries are an effort to supply additional resources for each of the terms. No supposition of comprehensiveness or absolute correctness can be assumed in any way. Many of the glossary entries have hypertext links to other sites on the InterNet. These external links were valid in the Spring semester of 2005 and are updated and augmented each year. The 2005 version was created in the tenth year for this project and is dedicated to the SHSU Air Quality students who are its authors.
