    The Radiation Chemistry Data Center
T he Radiation Chemistry Data Center (RCDC) is a focal point for the compilation and evaluation of kinetic, spectroscopic and thermodynamic data for processes in solution involving reactive intermediates, including free radicals and excited states . These data are primarily derived from the published literature on radiation chemistry and quantitative aspects of photochemistry. Data from the compilations is also made available as a database for PCs and for searching online via the World Wide Web. I n addition to the critical compilation activities in radiation chemistry and photochemistry we also maintain a substantial bibliographic database in support of the data work. The database is available for browsing new additions and retrospective searching online via the World Wide Web.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CHEMISTRY DATA FOR INDIRECT FOOD ADDITIVE PETITIONS
These recommendations were developed to assist petitioners in the preparation of the chemistry portion of petitions for indirect food additives. The law, regulations and specific letters take precedence over these informal recommendations. This document supersedes the Recommendations dated September, 1988, Version 1.2., March, 1993
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 1995 "RECOMMENDATIONS"
  • Migration testing protocols for high-temperature applications are included.
  • Miglyol 812 TM is discussed as an alternative fatty-food simulant.
  • The agency's commitment to international harmonization under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) has been considered. As a result:

Description Data Submission Procedure to QA/SAC and WDCPC
It is our intention to eventually provide interactive access via this web site to the WMO/GAW precipitation database, both to deposit data from the various GAW precipitation networks, and to provide data downloads for research activities. However, the Scientific Advisory Group for Precipitation Chemistry (SAG-PC) is currently reviewing many procedural issues concerning precipitation chemistry data including submission standards and formats, appropriate disclosure levels and maintaing data integrity and security. Until these issues are resolved, implementation of interactive web site would be premature.

NIST provides a comprehensive set of easy-to-use databases and online systems that help the analytical chemist identify unknown materials and obtain physical, chemical, and spectroscopic data about known substances. The databases marked with an * have been fully evaluated using a variety of techniques. When appropriate, duplicate measurements have been included for completeness. The databases and online systems are updated and expanded on a regular basis. The PC databases have sophisticated software that enables searching which takes only seconds. Highlights The NIST/EPA/NIH Mass Spectral Library is the product of a multiyear, comprehensive evaluation and expansion of the world's more widely used mass spectral reference library. The database now includes 147,198 compounds with spectra. Click here for a list of our distributors of this high-quality, evaluated product.

This data set consists of microparticle and chemistry data from Byrd Ice Core, the first ice core to reach bedrock in Antarctica. The core was drilled with a cable-suspended electromechanical rotary drill at Byrd Station, Antarctica. The vertical thickness of the ice was 2164 meters and more than 99 percent of the core was recovered. Cores were sought for investigations of the physical properties of the ice sheet, the nature of the ice-rock contact, and the composition of the underlying bedrock.
