Departments
The Department of Chemistry is one of the 10 largest in the nation in number of BS and BA degrees awarded. Known for excellence in instruction and undergraduate research opportunities, the Department also attracts a large number of transfers from other departments in the university.
Students at all levels are able to play a role in discovery on the Department's research teams. These teams are exploring micro-electronics, molecular data storage, nanotechnology, materials science and many other developing technologies.
We also successfully work with various companies in Research Triangle Park and surrounding area to create and provide opportunities for students to obtain internships and other valuable work experiences.
During the past six years, the Department of Chemistry at NC State has grown its research-active faculty by more than 50 percent, which has created many exciting and innovative research programs and opportunities for our undergraduate and graduate students.
Our research-active faculty includes two chaired positions, the Glaxo Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry and the Howard J. Schaeffer Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry.

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry!
The Department of Chemistry at Bridgewater College is a small but well-equipped department, graduating 4-6 majors each year. Of those majors, more than half go on to further their education in graduate or professional schools. Others have joined firms such such as Merck, Dow and W. R. Grace as bench chemists, while others find work in quality control labs both private and state-operated.
    The Courses
The Departmental curriculum is intended to foster an increasing sense of independence in the student. After the introductory courses, chemistry majors are encouraged to become laboratory assistants in various low-level courses, and are required to complete during each term as Juniors and Seniors individual projects which permit them to become familiar with advanced chemical methods and instrumentation. During these project courses the students may work on their own time, and are given access to all of the working labs in the department by means of a key system. Interesting Link Here is an interesting new place in England which has information and links for Chemical MIMEs . With a chemical MIME you can download information in the structure of a molecule and view the molecule in real-time - manipulate it, change the view, and even save it as a graphic file. This is really worth checking out!

National studies have shown that the largest percentage of the most productive and creative scientists in the U.S. have undergraduate degrees from small, liberal arts colleges. A liberal arts education emphasizes critical thinking and analysis, communication and cross-disciplinary discussion as well as hands-on learning. At Otterbein, we strongly believe that a liberal arts education is the best preparation for a career in any field. Broad academic experiences in the humanities, sciences, arts and social sciences teach students to think critically, analyze problems, reach creative solutions and communicate clearly. The skills gained through an excellent liberal arts education are transferable to many career fields, and thus provide the flexibility, adaptability and creativity necessary for career growth and satisfaction in our rapidly changing society. Otterbein will give you "depth" in your major and "breadth" for your life of continued discovery. A liberal arts education not only prepares you for your first job, but more importantly for all of your other jobs and for all of your life.

Facilities Faculty Opportunities Courses ... Outcomes The Chemistry Department at Moravian College focuses on providing students with a fundamental understanding of the concepts of chemistry and their applications to advanced problems. The program emphasizes exploration of chemical principles through hands-on experience with chemical instrumentation beginning in the general chemistry course. All students have the opportunity to work with faculty members an original research projects that range from theoretical to physical chemistry to biochemistry. The Moravian chemistry major provides a firm foundation for medical school as well as for careers in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. In conjunction with the teacher certification program, chemistry majors can qualify for secondary school certificates in chemistry and general science. The department offers additional advanced chemistry courses, including research experiences, that prepare students for graduate study in chemistry and lead to a Moravian bachelor's degree that is certified by the American Chemical Society.
    FACILITIES AND RESOURCES
A National Science Foundation Instructional Laboratory Instrumentation (NSF-ILI) grant made to the Moravian College Science Division in April 1993 provided funds for our gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer and a unique electronic instrumentation network that facilitates the use of science division instruments in teaching and research laboratories across the science division. The Moravian College Scientific Instrumentation Network (MOCOSIN) links all division instrumentation with Sun, Macintosh, and PC workstations, and file servers to allow efficient "off-line" analysis of instrumental data. MOCOSIN has allowed all science departments to expand their use of top line instruments in introductory and intermediate level courses. Another NSF-ILI grant received by the Chemistry Department in May of 1995 allowed the purchase of laser fluorescence equipment that is used in physical chemistry and physics courses as well as undergraduate research projects in chemistry and physics.

    Introduction
Trinity College is the single College of the University of Dublin and was founded in 1592. Formal chemistry teaching commenced in August 1711 as a part of the new School of Medicine. Currently the Department has 19 academic staff and 14 technical or attendant staff, of whom 3 are employed full-time in the workshops which provide electronic, glassblowing and mechanical services. The Departments research effort will be further strengthened this year when a Science Foundation of Ireland Fellow will bring his research group to the Department. The undergraduate honours course in Chemistry provides students with a broad base in the subject, with approximately equal time being given to each of Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. A four year course in Computational Chemistry produced its first graduates in 2001. The course and its sister course Computational Physics combine a strong education in the physical sciences with training in computational methods. A third degree programme in Medicinal Chemistry commenced in 1999 and is especially tuned to fostering and training the creative talent and skills required for the Pharmaceutical industry, which is a major employer in Ireland. The Department, which is the largest in the Science Faculty, also provides courses in Chemistry to other Science students and to students of Pharmacy, Engineering, Medicine and other Health Sciences. Since 1987 the Department has taught, with the
