Accounting
The accounting major covers material including introductory principles, accounting information systems, managerial and cost accounting, tax accounting and auditing. Other courses such as economics, public speaking, management, marketing and business law are required to make students better equipped to compete in the job market. Many students structure their courses in preparation to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam. Internships are readily available the junior and senior years.
Department of Accounting

Allied Health
Combined degree programs are available in radiologic technology and medical technology. Students complete approximately two to three years of academic courses at Greensboro College, followed by a two-year clinical program at an approved medical facility. Neither the College nor its affiliated institutions guarantees admission to the clinical portion of the program.
Department of Natural Sciences
Art The art major is designed for the student who wants broad coverage in studio art and a comprehensive liberal arts education. The art education major is available for those who wish to teach art. All prospective art majors are required to have a portfolio review and to be interviewed by members of the department. Courses in the major include the fundamentals of form and composition in drawing, painting, two- and three-dimensional media, photography, art history and independent studios. Many graduates pursue advanced study in fine arts, and the department enjoys a strong placement record for its teacher education graduates.

Often, the goal must wait until their graduate degree is in hand, and then they find their name listed under another researcher's in the byline. What can I do with majors from your department?
Many career paths are available, whether or not you continue your education beyond your Asbury College degree. Graduates with chemistry education degrees have no difficulty finding employment. In part this is due to a national teacher shortage, especially in the sciences. But an Asbury College degree gives an extra edge to those wanting to teach, providing excellent preparation and carrying a solid reputation around the country. In fact, nearly 100 percent of education majors from the College who seek employment in education find jobs after graduation. Physical science majors participate in a joint program with the University of Kentucky, earning an additional bachelor's degree in an engineering field. Most graduates from this program enter directly into the workforce as engineers in a variety of areas. Chemistry majors often go on to graduate school or professional school in one of the health professions. Many, however, find careers immediately after graduation as research technicians in laboratories around the nation or analytical chemists for major corporations or environmental agencies. Asburians' experience with a broad range of equipment in their lab courses enables them to make a smooth transition into using that equipment in their jobs. Biochemistry graduates are especially well prepared to enter medical school due to the broad and in-depth exposure to the sciences they receive. Others choose to enter a biochemical field, working in drug development for major pharmaceutical companies, disease study with organizations like the Center for Disease Control or in other health-related areas, such as pharmacy. Study of the biochemistry of the human body is a rapidly growing field, with many opportunities for finding a significant vocation.

Pomona College Chemistry Department
Chemistry Department Website
The Chemistry Department prides itself on the longevity, strength and diversity of its faculty-student research program, which generally involves 10 to 18 students working with chemistry professors on cutting-edge research projects. During the last three decades, over 100 students have coauthored research articles with their professors.
We believe that this interaction between students and professors creates and sustains an excellent education in chemistry. Chemistry Department faculty have a wide range of research interests, from physical chemistry to bio-organic and biochemistry:
Wayne Steinmetz
uses nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to determine host-guest chemistry and the solution-phase structure of small peptides and other substances of biological importance.
Fred Grieman's
specialty is the study of molecular ion structures with laser and electron beams using free-jet expansions.
Cynthia Selassie’s
research focuses on the QSAR-based design, synthesis and evaluation of antibacterial and antiprotozoal pyrimidinyl compounds as well as the toxicity of various phenolic entities.

WELCOME TO PHOENIX COLLEGE. The academic year is off to a great start! Over 12,300 students are enrolled in our eighty-fifth fall semester at Phoenix College. The college family celebrated the 85th anniversary of our founding September 13 with a memorable gathering. Highlights included the reminiscenses of Mildred May, Class of 1928, and a commemorative photo with several hundred students, faculty, staff and friends donning blue and gold "Old School" t-shirts and forming a human bear paw symbol. Mayor Phil Gordon and Governor Janet Napolitano honored our historic milestone by declaring it "Phoenix College Day."
On September 16, Phoenix College hosted the investiture of W. Scott Bales to the Arizona Supreme Court. The event offered a rare opportunity to experience this important exercise of democracy, with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor administering the oath of office to Justice Bales. Phoenix College now boasts two alumni on the state Supreme Court. Read about four students who attended the investiture and met the justices (link below).

CITY COLLEGE The City College Convent Avenue and 138 Street New York, NY 10031 Located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at the hub of a circle of universities and medical centers, the City College campus is one of the prominent centers of higher learning of New York City. The College is easily reached from all parts of the city via subway or bus. The campus is convenient also to the major cultural and recreational attractions of New York City. Long known for its excellence as an undergraduate institution, for a third of a century City College has also provided instruction at the graduate level. Today research at the City College is carried out in a wide range of fields, many of which are interdisciplinary. Cooperative research projects, primarily with Engineering, Physics and Biology, greatly enrich the traditional research areas. In 1972, the Department of Chemistry moved into new quarters occupying one-third of the thirteen-story, fully air conditioned Science Building. This building, which the department shares with the departments of Biology, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Physics, and the Biomedical Program, is exceptionally well-equipped for teaching and research in chemistry. It contains a Science and Engineering Library, with a large collection of books and periodicals in the natural sciences and mathematics.

Chemistry Home Advising Guide Career Outcomes Curriculum ... Visiting Scientists "Juniata is an exceptional place to learn. You get a lot of hands on experience in both the laboratory and life itself. The professors encourage learning, intellectual thought, and broadening your mind in many areas. They are not only your mentors, but also your friends. Juniata is a great place to gain a lot of knowledge, experience, and a priceless liberal arts education."
- Recent Juniata Graduate Sally Wasileski Juniata's Chemistry Department enjoys a long-standing reputation for excellence in undergraduate training of professional chemists. It ranks fourth in the nation in the percentage of graduates who have gone on to complete a Ph. D. in chemistry and has been listed among the select college chemistry departments whose programs and facilities meet the demanding certification criteria established by the American Chemical Society since 1936. And that is just a building block for the future of chemistry at Juniata. As a small, liberal arts college, Juniata provides the kind of personalized attention and mentoring to chemistry students that is rare at larger institutions. Students can pursue a program in chemistry or work with their advisors to customize the Program of Emphasis to better meet their interests. Despite this smaller size, Juniata also has access to resources, instrumentation, and failities typically found only at those larger schools. The new William J. von Liebig Center for Science is designed specifically to foster and support the challenging and creative laboratory experiences students will engage in during their undergraduate research at Juniata.
