Review: Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory DS
26 July 2005 By GERARD CAMPBELL
Nintendo DS: Third Echelon secret agent Sam Fisher would have to be one of the coolest stealth operatives out there, and now he's slinking onto Ninty's DS handheld.
It was obvious straight off the bat that the DS would not be able to recreate the mind-blowing graphics of the console versions or offer the same flowing gameplay, but developer Gameloft has done a good job recreating Fisher's adventures and creating a 3D world on the limitations of the DS. Sam looks suitably bad-ass, complete with his trademark night-vision goggles, and he's able to do most of the moves found on the console versions: he creeps, repels and crawls through spaces, and can swing from ceiling pipes. The levels follow fairly closely the design of the console versions, but they have been altered slightly to make up for the hardware's shortcomings.

"Nothing is true; everything is permitted." - Hassan I Sabbah "I tell you: one must have chaos in one, to give birth to a dancing star. I tell you: you still have chaos in you." - Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra "...if you want a one-line definition with which most Chaoists would probably not disagree, then I offer the following. Chaoists usually accept the meta-belief that belief is a tool for achieving effects; it is not an end in itself." - Peter Carroll, January, 1992 "Chaos is not in itself, a system or philosophy. It is rather an attitude that one applies to one's magic and philosophy. It is the basis for all magic, as it is the primal creative force. A Chaos Magician learns a variety of magical techniques, usually as many as s/he can gain access to, but sees beyond the systems and dogmas to the physics behind the magical force and uses whatever methods are appealing to him/herself." - Mark Chao, "Defining Chaos" "The Chaos Magician seeks to understand the natural laws behind the workings of magic, and the reasons behind the use of ritual in the performance of a magical working."

  • Chaos and quantum mechanics ("Quantum Chaos"). Random Matrix Theory and Semiclassics. Theory of driven mesoscopic (nano) systems. Adiabatic transport and quantum pumping. Quantum irreversibility, dissipation and dephasing. Relation to quantum computing. Application to quantal Brownian Motion.
My main line of study concerns driven systems that are described by time-dependent Hamiltonian H(Q,P;x(t)). Such systems absorb energy. This irreversible effect is known as dissipation. One aim of my studies is to develop a general theory for this energy absorption. The ohmic nature of dissipation and the associated fluctuation-dissipation relation are studied within the framework of quantum mechanics. It turns out that there are three regimes in the theory of energy absorption: The adiabatic regime; The linear-response (Kubo) regime; And the non-perturbative regime. The mesoscopic Drude formula for electrical conductance, and the wall formula for nuclear friction, can be regarded as special cases of the general formulation of the dissipation problem. The research plan involves numerical studies. Of particular interest are studies of so-called billiard systems. An important issue is to understand the clash between random matrix theory and semiclassical methods. [

Random Matrix Approaches in Number Theory

Theme of Workshop:
One of the main objectives of quantum chaos is the understanding of how the ergodic properties of classical Hamiltonian systems affect the behaviour of the eigenfunctions and spectra of the corresponding quantum mechanics in the semiclassical limit. Some of the main open problems concern the equidistribution of all eigenstates in phase space (quantum unique ergodicity) and the statistical distributions of the energy levels. The workshop will focus on the study of quantum systems in a natural number-theoretic setting, which have provided ground for the most recent advances towards the solutions of many outstanding problems in quantum chaos.

"More than at any time in history mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness, the other to total extinction. Let us pray that we have the wisdom to choose correctly."

Welcome to Virtual Chaos
Thank you for taking the time to visit and consider the ideas that we have put forth in an attempt to help explain how the world around us, and within us, works. We have done our best to try and make the information we present understandable to as many people as possible. We try to put the ideas in a format that the layperson can read and understand, but will not bore the steeped scientist to death. We ask you to check back with this site, as it is constantly evolving as new ideas are conceived, new questions asked, and new explanations offered.
What is Virtual Chaos?
Virtual Chaos is a Theory of Everything . A Theory of Everything is designed to explain how everything works with a single set of rules. These rules would have to apply to all known (and unknown) phenomena and work with all of them. We have tried to break Virtual Chaos using everything we could think of, testing it against Relativity, Quantum Mechanics, Gyroscopes, Solar systems, Metaphysics, Religion and anything else we could think of. The result: It ended up uniting everything in a common framework.

The program was headed by Professor Yngve Domar until his retirement on 30 June 1993. Dennis Hejhal, full professor at the University of Minnesota since 1978, was appointed to be his successor, and Hejhal's professorship at Uppsala began on 1 July 1994. Hejhal's areas of interest center around complex analysis, analytic number theory, quantum chaos, and high-performance computing. His work in these areas is of international stature, and was supported by National Science Foundation in the USA for over 20 years. During the next few years, Hejhal will be seeking to form an active research group in his areas at Uppsala. At least on Lobachevsky space, quantum chaos features a blend of theoretical physics, number theory, discontinuous groups, trace formulae (a la Selberg), ergodic theory, dynamical systems, and (experiments using) high- performance computers. Seeking to provide rigorous underpinnings for what one "sees" experimentally brings one face-to-face with a whole series of deep open problems (e.g. Riemann Hypothesis and the Sato-Tate conjecture for Fourier coefficients of modular forms). Arithmetic surfaces in Lobachevsky space are one of the main categories of classically chaotic systems (in terms of the geodesic flow), so the appearance of problems of this type is not wholly unexpected given that the quantum-mechanical "particles" are simply automorphic eigenfunctions of the Laplacian.

    136. JULES- Chaos Magick?
Article explaining the basics of chaos magick theory.
    http://www.jules.org/chaos-magick.html
Chaos Magick? Is it any wonder that something called "Chaos Magick" is difficult for many people to understand? The reason we should try, however, is simply because it is becoming an increasingly popular form of magickal practice. Chaos Magick Theory, often called CMT, isn't terribly interested in the theoretical part of itself. It focuses far more on using what worked for what effect, and under what conditions. The why of it is a comparatively distant concern. CMT claims to have (nor need) any religious or philosophic justification for its' workings. It demands that the individual Chaote finds what set of limitations works bet for their personal situation. It also counts on each Chaote to come up with their own theories on why it works, although there is no encouragement to dawdle in the theoretical for too long. CMT's success or failure in working magick is said to be based not on the whim of any higher force, or any other "scapegoat." The primary question a Chaote must ask themselves if their magick fails is, "What did I do incorrectly?" CMT is formulaic in its approach to the known rules and guidelines that make it work. As can be expected with something so no-nonsense, it can be fairly difficult to work with, in that it offers no explanations for why something goes wrong, except that you, the caster, must have messed it up somewhere. It is often noted by experienced Chaotes that good results are not instantaneous, and must be worked, and worked hard for, to achieve.

    Chaos magic
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
The chaos star (called a 'chaosphere' by some practitioners) is the most popular symbol of chaos magic. Many variants exist. Chaos magic is a relatively new form of ritual magic , generally involving paradigm shifting and empty-handed (without the use of props) rituals including stimulating focus of the will , often through meditation psychoactive drugs , self-inflicted pain and orgasm . Practitioners hold that they can shape reality using this form of magic.

    History
Following the death of Aleister Crowley magic as practiced by the still somewhat sparse occult subculture in Britain tended to become more experimentalist, personal and a lot less bound to the magical traditions of established magical orders . Main reasons for this might include the public availability of previously secret information on magic (especially in the published works of Crowley and Israel Regardie ), the radically unorthodox magic of Austin Osman Spare 's Zos Kia Cultus , the influence of Discordianism , the increasing popularity of magic caused by the success of the Wiccan faith and the use of psychedelic drugs The term chaos magic first appeared in print in the widely influential Liber Null by Peter Carroll , first published in . In it, Carroll formulated several concepts on magic that were radically different from what was considered magical mysteries in the days of Crowley. This book, along with
