Military Naturalization Ceremony at Amerika Haus
September 15, 2005. On September 15, Consul General Peter Bodde joined 37 service members from 25 different countries, their families and friends at their naturalization ceremony at Amerika Haus where they became citizens of the United States. In his remarks to them, he pointed out that the United States is built on the dreams and determination of millions of immigrants and that it has grown and flourished through their contributions and sacrifices. Mr. Bodde called Germany a fitting place to acquire US citizenship, as so many Germans have crossed the Atlantic to adopt America as their new home. “From Baron von Steuben, who helped General Washington make the Continental Army strong enough to defeat the Redcoats, to former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, they have helped make America what it is today.”

Federal election officials on Monday sued a pro-Republican political group to try to force it to comply with campaign finance limits, the first lawsuit of its kind to arise from big-money fundraising during the 2004 elections. The Federal Election Commission filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Washington against the Club for Growth. The group spent at least $21 million in the 2003-04 election cycle. The FEC contends the group spent enough in federal races to require it to file with the commission as a political committee and to abide by contribution and spending limits. A Club for Growth...

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CHILD CARE CENTERS AND THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT
Coverage
1. Q: Does the Americans with Disabilities Act or "ADA" apply to child care centers?
A: Yes. Privately-run child care centers like other public accommodations such as private schools, recreation centers, restaurants, hotels, movie theaters, and banks must comply with title III of the ADA. Child care services provided by government agencies, such as Head Start, summer programs, and extended school day programs, must comply with title II of the ADA. Both titles apply to a child care center's interactions with the children, parents, guardians, and potential customers that it serves. A child care center's employment practices are covered by other parts of the ADA and are not addressed here. For more information about the ADA and employment practices, please call the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (see question 30).
2. Q: Which child care centers are covered by title III?
