Cecil has many similarities to other object-oriented programming languages, most notably Objective-C Modula-3 and Self . Donna Phillips hears the chewing in her job closed-captioning the reality TV show "Fear Factor." Click photo for larger image. For most people, watching TV is recreation, a leisure pursuit after a hard day's work. For Donna Phillips, Beth Barrows and 140 other transcribers and closed-captioners who work for VITAC in Cecil, watching TV is hard work. They're the people who type in closed captions for thousands of hours of programming that's viewed by the hearing-impaired and everyday people who like to read their TV shows in addition to watching. And if you've got to watch TV for work, you might as well watch something you enjoy. For Phillips and Barrows, who work on prerecorded rather than live TV shows, a favorite is "Fear Factor," the NBC reality series that asks contestants to participate in stunts, whether it's bungee jumping or eating something not found on a typical restaurant menu. Phillips, 50, was first intrigued by the idea of watching people overcome their fears. Barrows, 28, was leery of "Fear Factor," but eventually she came to appreciate it.
