As a small child I had my first dog, a collie by the name of Misty.  She was the love of my life, my constant companion and best friend.  I used to pour over any dog books I could get my hands on hoping that some day I might be able to own my own kennel and be surrounded by such wonderful animals. I began to fulfill that dream a few years ago with the purchase of our dearest fur friend by the name of Cooper.  Although he is not a part of our breeding program, he is a treasured member of our family.  While living in South Carolina I began my education with the help of several seasoned Sheltie breeders.  I attended every show and seminar that was offered.  I began with one female as a foundation and was very pleased with the offspring.  We have since relocated to beautiful middle Tennessee . We have just moved into our new farm house with our beautiful shelties and we are all enjoying lots of room to romp. Many of our puppies have gone on to win in Agility, Obedience and Conformation.  I am proud to say that some are licensed Therapy Dogs visiting hospitals and rest homes bringing joy to those who are confined.  My biggest reward however is the feedback I get from folks who own our puppies as pets.  Every year I get calls of thanks from owners that are living their lives with Shelties that are not only beautiful, smart and healthy but are pure joy to live with. Breeds : Siamese History This breed originally came from Siam (now known as Thailand) in the late 1800's. An English ambassador received a cat as a gift and brought it to England. It was even then a slender, graceful cat, although not to the extremes of today's Siamese. Early descriptions refer to its long legs, and long wedge-shaped head. This combined with the dramatic dark points on a pale body made it very popular with cat lovers. The breed grew in popularity, to the point that Siamese classes at shows in the 1950's often had a hundred cats in them. However, quality does not always follow quantity and many of these cats were heavy boned, lacked refinement, and had pale eyes. Later breeders began breeding for a longer, leaner look and this is the hallmark of the breed today. The Siamese could quite possibly be referred to as the "Queen of Breeds" as it has been instrumental in the development and revitalization of numerous breeds, as well as spawning a couple of sibling breeds. It is the direct ancestor of the Oriental Shorthair, Colorpoint Shorthair, Balinese, and the Javanese as all are color and/or coat-length varients of the Siamese. It was central to the development of the Himalayan and the Tonkinese. Because of its vitality, it was used in the revitalization of many other unrelated breeds such as the Russian Blue, Burmese, Havana Brown, and Ocicat.

Breeds : Burmese European Burmese General Information The nomenclature of the Burmese, from a world perspective, can be a bit confusing. The breed began its development in the United States, but on its export to England and Europe, its development took a rather different path. Therefore, the breed that is referred to as the Burmese on the Continent is called the European Burmese in the United States. It is suggested that the reader refer to both this article and the European Burmese article for a complete overview. History The Burmese as we know the breed today originated with a cat brought back from the Orient by Dr. Joseph Thompson named Wong Mau. She was described as “a rather small cat, fine boned, but with a more compact body than that of a Siamese, with shorter tail, a rounded, short-muzzled head, with greater width between rounded eyes" and as being walnut brown with darker brown on her extremities (face, ears, paws and tail). Cats similar to her in appearace did and still do occur in Southeast Asia and many of them have been imported for use in Burmese breeding programs. Wong Mau was bred to Siamese (that breed at the time being much less extreme that it is today and being the breed closest in appearance to Wong Mau). Part of the kittens were Siamese-type pointed, some were dark with darker, subtler points (like their mother) and others were more solidly dark. These latter kittens bred true with bred to each other and were used as the basis of the Burmese breeding program and the breed began to be registered and shown in the mid-1930’s.

Pas nadat ik al 8 katten van verschillende komaf (ras- en asielkatten) had leek het me wel eens leuk om zelf een nestje onder mijn dak te zien opgroeien - de vroege kittenfase had ik immers nooit vanaf het prille begin meegemaakt. Alleen is het krijgen van een nestje nogal moeilijk, onmogelijk zelfs, als je alleen maar castraten in huis hebt. Bovendien had ik heel veel gecastreerde katers, ik was meer een 'katerie' dan een cattery. Er zou een raspoes gekozen moeten worden, maar welk ras? Ik was bekend met de Brits Korthaar, Heilige Birmaan en de Noorse Boskat, en na alles goed overwogen te hebben besloot ik te kiezen voor de Noorse Boskat. Ik moest op zoek naar een poes van dit ras. Ik had al 1 Noorse (gecastreerde)kater in huis met een geweldig karakter en ging daarom op zoek naar een poes die enigzins familie van mijn eersteling was. Zodoende deed Shari (officieel Adinda Marit van't Oestertje) haar intrede. Haar naam is dan ook verwerkt in mijn catterynaam aangevuld met de naam van mijn allereerste kat Kenzo. Helaas is de cattery al snel een eerbetoon geworden omdat Kenzo intussen overleden is.
