Animal Trivia.
Did You Know... All cats are members of the family Felidea. Interestingly enough, the cat family split from the other mammals at least 40,000,000 years ago, making them one of the oldest mammalian families.
Cats can get "age spots". These are black spots on the skin that are often seen around the lips, eyes, and nose; and usually start when the cat is three to five years of age.
Cats must have fat in their diet, because they can't produce it on their own. Never feed your cat dog food, because cats need five times more protein than dogs do.

Not only do cartoon artists present readers with a literal interpretation of the story, they also reveal its imaginative component by using allusion, symbolism and exaggeration to examine the meaning behind the words. The agile intelligence, creativity, and humour evident in their art challenges the reader to experience the story at many levels. "I like to have fun with my books, and I love to draw people. I play around with form a lot and sometimes people say I don't draw realistically, but I think my work is very realistic. Kids in schools do remark on my style; they ask why I draw big heads, little hands. So I say to them, ‘Don't you know anyone with small hands or a big head?', and they do." (Marie-Louise Gay quoted in "The Art of the Children's Book Illustrator: Eight Leading Artists Talk about their Work", , volume 51, no. 10, October 1985. Toronto: Key Publishers, 1985. P. 6.) In 1984, Marie-Louise Gay won the Canada Council Children's Literature Prize for illustration in both the English-language ( Lizzy's Lion written by Dennis Lee) and the French-language categories ( ). This unprecedented feat suggests the wide appeal of her charming and whimsical illustrations. Born in Quebec City, her family moved frequently throughout her childhood, resulting in Marie-Louise Gay's ease in both French and English. She attended Montreal's Institute of Graphic Arts and, for several years, did editorial illustration for various Canadian magazines. After illustrating Bertrand Gauthier's children's book Hou Ilva

COMIC STRIPS A mong the recent acquisitions of the Library of Congress is the world's largest and most spectacular private collection of original cartoon art. Assembled over the course of sixty years by J. Arthur Wood, Jr., the Art Wood Collection of Caricature and Cartoon more than doubles the Library's existing holdings in this area. A true "Gift to the Nation," it contains an estimated 36,000 works by more than 2,800 artists, and includes a comprehensive array of political cartoons, caricatures, comic strips, humor cartoons, illustrations, and animation cels. Virtually every aspect of the genre is represented by leading creators, making the Library's cartoon collections both comprehensive and unrivaled in the United States. It is eminently appropriate that Art Wood's collection be placed at the Library of Congress. At the age of sixteen he worked for a summer as an elevator boy and hatrack attendant at the Library for the express purpose of studying the book and periodical collections relating to caricature and cartoon. He applied the knowledge he gained that summer well and, after six decades of personal collecting, the results of that youthful dedication have come full circle.

http://www.kyoto-seika.ac.jp/eng/3_art/cartoon/cartoon.htm
Advice to applicants here Cartoon Art Department The objective of KSU's School of Cartoon and Comic Art is to promote excellence in new generations of cartoonists. We aim to help them develop not only sharp eyes for the quirks of human behaviour, and high levels of artistic technique, but also to gain a thorough grounding in the history of cartooning, together with an up-to-date perspective on cartoon media. We teach our students a form of expression based on the twin concepts of reduction to essentials, and strong emphasis. Each cartoon must satisfy three functions: specificality, satire, and a sense of exaggeration. We aim to instill a deep understanding of the origins of manga, through building an appreciation of its history, and also to develop artistic ability characterized by deep sensitivity and creativity.
Our curriculum begins with a strong emphasis on drawing, from animals and human beings, in both first and second year. By third year, we move on to caricature, while continuing to draw from animals, also introducing woodblock, brush drawing, and graphic design, to expand students' horizons. In fourth year they consolidate on their three previous years to produce graduation works.

Notes for Prospective Applicants (see here for Cartoon Art) Enrollments:
The Comic Art Major accepts approximately 40 new students per year, approximately 6 of whom shall be international students. Scope of Courses:
Many prospective international students have asked whether or not we teach animation, particularly animation in a Japanese " anime The school emphasizes international and historical perspectives. Rather than simply learning techniques and styles popular in Japan today, students are exposed to cartoons and comics from all over the world, and throughout history, in order to gain a concrete grasp of the limitless potential of the medium. Every year, there will be visiting lecturers from around the world, as well as international symposia and other events. The faculty aim to make the department one of the major foci of cartoon and comic art in the world. For practical reasons, however, it is important that students be reasonably proficient in Japanese. (Although there is one Korean and one American on the full-time faculty, all classes are taught in

Distinguishing characteristics
The nave is modifications of the German verb Scheinen
A CARTOON series is a prolonged work of art, and art is marked by representation, hence by Scheinen , by seeming. This is because a phenomenon or "thing" is different from its representation. We identify the "real thing" by playing with the representation of it. At times it can be difficult. But the items we discuss when talking of cartoons or other forms and outlets of art per se, are marked by Scheinen , by illuding. It is done in a large variety of ways.
We find room for artist, artwork, viewer, and philosopher around the nave. They interact in various ways with one another. We go into it (fig. 1).
Fig. 1 Studying cartoons as art The nave: In figure 1, Scheinen is at the centre. Scheinen is a wide term that covers illuding art products of many sorts. The copy or piece of artwork we have in our hands, has Scheinen at its marrow. But
