Candles by Midnight
Welcome to "Magic In The Making." I began this business by selling pagan candles on a wholesale basis within the city limits of my hometown, Salem, Massachusetts. My candles were distributed in popular establishments, such as The Broom Closet, The Salem Witch Village and Witch Way Gifts. On September 1, 2000, family members and I opened an arts and crafts store called, "Special Creations: Handcrafted Decoratives." It was then I decided to become Salem's exclusive distributor of Magic In The Making products. However, not wanting to cease my wholesale venture completely, this site was created for both wholesale and retail.
Realizing that living in our modern society, many witches, Wiccans and pagans do not have the time or ability to create the numerous trinkets that decorate our homes and altars. I decided to branch out and create all sorts of magickal items that range from wreaths to wrapped crystal necklaces. My standards are high and I stand by all my products. Because I handcraft all my products and candles personally, they are created and charged with the brightest of blessings and love.

167. Making Recycled Candles, Information On
Some hints, tips and warnings about recycling old candles to make new ones.
http://www.envocare.co.uk/candle_making.htm
Some Tips on Making Recycled Candles
You can melt down the remains of your old / used candles to make new ones. However you may not be able to predict exactly how the end result will turn out if you mix bits of different candles together. You can try experimenting, and as you make more candles you'll gain experience to improve the results. There are books available as well as Web sites which will give you much more information and details on candle-making. Always remember that safety is most important. Wax is inflammable and vaporised wax is explosive. Also bear in mind that melted wax is very hot and can cause skin burns. Do not heat up the wax in a microwave oven; this can be dangerous. Children should have adult supervision when making candles. Tips on things you'll need
You'll need a few things before you get started, some of which you'll have to buy. They're available from craft shops or from some department stores.
* An old saucepan to melt the wax in; or you can buy a special one for candle making but it might be quite expensive; or you can buy special wax boil bags.

  • Cut the wick about 3" longer than the length of the candle mold.
  • Tie the dowel/pencil to the top of the wick ( figure A
  • Slide the wick through the bottom of the candle mold, securing the wick tightly by pulling it taut and then slipping the straight pin through the extra wick coming through the bottom of the candle mold. The straight pin will keep the wick from sliding back through the bottom of the mold ( figure B ). Be sure to trim the excess wick.

    http://www.indianchild.com/Hobby/how-to-make-candles.htm
how to make candles Candles bring the much-needed light in darkness. But gone are the days when a candle was only meant to dispel the darkness. Today with the growing importance of candle as an art it has taken off from the altar to the showcase where it sits to be admired.
Fragrant candles are making its mark with a variety of soothing scents. These candles are now finding itself on bathroom sills, and as decorative items dressing up a home. Also there are innovative methods being tried, to fade out the obnoxious combustion of a candle. Smokeless candles, aromatic candles, designer candles are the vagaries that show up on shelves for sale. And of course the sale is brilliant.
So if you are the type that likes to work with your hands then candle making is a lucrative profession you can take up to go on the entrepreneurship track. Many have made their names in this business and the market seems ever welcome to newer ideas and innovation.
Making a candle needs a lot of patience and a trained mind. Training is available at a number of places from the basic to designer styles. To begin with you have to double boil your wax. If you do not have a double boiler then put some water in a wide vessel on a low flame. Put your wax chunks in a can and then put the can in the vessel filled with water. Once the wax begins to melt add some more chunks of wax.

By the time you have read through this website, I sincerely hope you will have all the tools you need to start making your own soy candles at home. As you know scented soy candles have become very popular. You may find soy candles just about everywhere you go anymore. One thing that I have noticed is that soy candles are not as popular as paraffin candles! These scented soy candles may be more popular in the next few years, but they are hard to come by in the retail stores. If you ever wanted to get into making soy candles and make soy candles, now is the time. Especially if you have a local market and a demand for soy candles.

Crafting Instruction - Handcrafted Candles Instructions for candle making Materials: Wax, crayon coloring material, wick (s), double boiler, egg beater, or electric mixer and a variety of containers for molds. A few kitchen utensils, various colored packages of glitter and a few pieces of brick-a-brac will also be helpful. Note: A good quality wick can be made from bricklayers or carpenter chalk-line, available at most home improvement stores. A braided cotton cord will work just as well or simply purchase ready made wicks at the craft supplies store. After you have decided on your wick material, soak it for about 10 hours in a solution of one tablespoon of salt, two tablespoons of borax and a cup of water. (Skip this step for ready made wicks and follow package instruction if any). Remove the wick and allow it to dry overnight. Instruction: Before you pour the melted wax into the mold, tie a washer to the bottom end of the wick and tie the top to the center of a clothespin or pencil. Place the wick in the mold, with the end tied to the pencil across the top. Almost anything can be used to mold candles. For tall cylindrical shapes, with a diameter of about 2 1/2", best results are obtained by taping two empty 12 ounce frozen orange juice cans end to end. Cut out both ends of one of the cans.
