Canadian Marketing Association to crown Canadian "Technology Idol"
TORONTO - July 19, 2005 - It's not just Canadian singers who can become idols but marketers as well, with the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) set to crown a "Technology Idol" this fall. A select group of organizations will belt out their pitch for the best technology application for direct marketers. Like Canadian and American idol participants, these performers will be critiqued by a panel of professionals. The final three competitors will be selected from a group that have applied for the right to be included in the competition. To qualify, the technology must support direct marketers and candidates must be able to demonstrate the technology and provide a case study. Winners will be decided by an audience vote at the CMA Direct Marketing Conference which is being held on October 27, 2005 in Toronto. The deadline for entries is August 31, 2005. Organizations interested in entering should do so by submitting an e-mail to

Below are a list of links to Science and Technology companies' online job webpages. Some are linked directly while others go to the home page of the listed companies. The first section consists of online job banks that list jobs in all sectors and locales. The job banks also contain tutorials that help to refine job search skills such as writing resumes, networking and effective job searching. A new link on our site is Employment411.com which is a directory of employment, career and job opportunities. Resume posting, writing and distribution, freelance and work at home opportunities plus online vocational training courses. The next site on the list, CareerOwl is job bank with a bit of a difference. It is a Canada-wide web-based electronic hiring hall conceived, developed and founded as a non-profit service by Dr. Alice Nakamura and other faculty members at the Universities of Alberta (UofA), British Columbia (UBC) and Western Ontario (UWO). "We know there's a better way for students to find their way into the workplace. And we know there has to be an easier, less costly way for potential employers to find those students," says Dr. Nakamura. "We think CareerOwl is that better, less costly, easier way." Using leading-edge technology, CareerOwl is designed to cut through the red tape and alleviate many of the difficulties encountered by students searching for jobs. It is also designed to help Canadian employers large and small, from the private and public sector find the skilled employees they need without the cost entailed in traditional recruitment efforts
