The Martial Art of Meihuazhuang
The Canadian Meihuazhuang Association is dedicated to teaching and promoting the martial art of Meihuazhuang. The association is based in Regina, Saskatchewan and Vancouver, British Columbia. Meihuazhuang is an ancient martial art practiced primarily in the rural regions of Jiangsu, Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces of Northern China. It is characterized by five static postures intermixed with dynamic motion comprised of light rapid footwork, and large flowing movements. The basic training methods are simple and strong yet relaxed and highly adaptable conveying a large expansive and bold presence delivered through a relaxed body and spirit. Originating as a highly sophisticated battlefield art already common on the north China plains by the 1500's, it remains today a holistic and effective method for self defense. more J. 169. 1996 Report Of The Auditor General Of Canada - November - Chapter 27
A 1996 report by the Auditor general of Canada on the role of foreign and security intelligence in government and on the control and accountability arrangements in the intelligence community.

The Canadian Intelligence Community
Control and Accountability
Assistant Auditor General: David Rattray
Responsible Auditor: Henno Moenting
Introduction
Intelligence is an important function of government Canada is a democratic, peaceful and prosperous country, deeply engaged in the international community. It is an active peacekeeper, an important member of many multilateral institutions, a global trader and a refuge for many from other, less fortunate, countries. Canada's intelligence community operates within this broad context by collecting, analyzing, assessing and disseminating to government decision makers information and advice that help to protect and promote Canadian interests. Users of the intelligence community's product include ministers as well as senior officials of most departments and agencies - but particularly those concerned with foreign policy, trade and economic policy, defence policy and public safety. Although the end of the Cold War has altered the range and focus of the intelligence community's efforts, it has not diminished the need for the government to collect, assess and disseminate intelligence - as the hypothetical examples in Exhibit 27.1

"Power From Knowledge"
What is Aikido?
Aikido is a modern martial art derived from the samurai aikijitsu fighting techniques of ancient Japan. Long known as a powerful and efficient martial art, Aikido is the study of techniques, not the use of strength. Aikido techniques involve large flowing circular movements where your partner's energy is guided to take him into a joint-lock or throw. These movements rely on timing, balance, and self-control, rather than physical strength and aggression. Due to its very effective but non-aggressive nature, Aikido is taught to police forces world-wide. With the development of solid basic techniques, Aikido can provide a powerful means of self-defence without undue aggression.
Bushinkan Dojo
The Bushinkan Dojo and its instructors are both registered and licensed by the International Yoshinkan Aikido Federation (IYAF) in Tokyo, Japan. As such, all gradings are recognized internationally.
Location
The Bushinkan Dojo is located under the Junior Ranks Mess at Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Ontario.
New Members
New members are welcome to start at any time. During class, new members are assisted by black belt instructors. Attention is focused on basic movements and techniques, safe ways of falling (breakfalls), and dojo etiquette.

CANADA: WINNIPEG 1919: Museum answers critics with exhibit on bloody 1919 strike

The Canadian Museum of Civilization, criticized for ignoring some of Canada's unpleasant historic events, has opened an exhibit dealing with one of the ugliest confrontations in the country's history. With the help of $50,000 from the Canadian Labour Congress, the museum launched two "social progress" exhibits yesterday a recreation of Meeting Room No. 10, used by unions during the bloody Winnipeg general strike of 1919, and a companion Web site devoted to Canadian labour history.
