Canadian Genealogy Centre Offers 1915-1932 Canadian Naturalization Lists
The Canadian Genealogy Centre is offering a new database of immigrants who received Canadian naturalization certificates, which were published in the Canada Gazette between 1915 and 1932. It's available at
http://www.genealogy.gc.ca/01/010203_e.html .

You can search this database by given name, surname, and country. Wildcards are available for single and multiple letters. You'll get two sets of results. The first result gives individual names, the time span when then immigrated, the country of origin, and a link to the immigration listing containing the name. The second result will give you the section of listings which include names beginning with the first two letters of the name you search for. For example, I searched for Segal. I got one result for an individual, and then a link to 41 pages containing name listings which started with Se. (Be sure to check those pages! I found several Segals who weren't returned with the individual search results.) The pages are in PDF format and include the name of the individual, country of origin, date of certificate (not often available), date of oath of allegiance, occupation, residence, and number and series.

Research Guide to Canadian Genealogical Resources at the Connecticut State Library
This research guide is an introduction to several major Canadian genealogical resources in the State Library's collection and how to best utilize them. The presence of many of these resources is the result of one individual, Robert R. Bisaillon. An avid genealogist, author, and teacher, Mr. Bisaillon amassed an extensive collection of materials dealing with Acadian and French-Canadian genealogy. After his death on October 25, 1994, it was announced that he had bequeathed his book collection to the Connecticut State Library. It is through his generosity that the Connecticut State Library is able to offer many of the following Canadian genealogical sources: Other Institutions with Relevant Canadian Collections Introductory Resources
A list of introductory books on Canadian genealogy at the Connecticut State Library follows. The list provided below is by no means exhaustive. Researchers should consult the library's main catalogs, the Manuscripts and Archives Catalog, and State Archives research guides to ascertain if there are additional resources. Baxter, Angus.

British Columbia 1871: A List of Residents Based on the Work of Edward Mallandaine
Compiled by Dave Obee. This is a 115-page index to residents of B.C. as recorded in the first half of 1871 just before it became a province. This information was gathered at the same time that a census was being taken in other parts of Canada, so it complements that resource. British Columbia 1871 is based on a directory put together by Edward Mallandaine, a Victoria architect. It puts all of the names from the directory into two lists Greater Victoria and everything else. There are also maps to make it easier to find the locations mentioned, as well as a bonus a list of undelivered letters at the post offices in New Westminster and Victoria. This will be an essential aid for research in the early days of British Columbia. C$15.00

Terry Fox Runs
One person can make a difference. When Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope run across Canada on April 12, 1980 his goal was to raise $1 for every person in Canada for cancer research. That would have been about $24 million in 1980. The Terry Fox Foundation says that in the last 25 years more than $360 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry's name. Just yesterday, Ujjal Dosanjh, the Canadian federal Minister of Health, gave a $10-million grant from the Public Health Agency of Canada to the Terry Fox Foundation. And the marathon continues....
