page 214, reel T-14823 Search the database The National Archives of Canada holds immigration records from 1865 to 1935. The names of immigrants arriving from overseas are recorded in passenger lists. Those arriving from or via the United States are recorded in border entry lists. A series of old nominal indexes exist for the 1925 to 1935 records. In cooperation with the National Archives of Canada, the Pier 21 Society in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has input the information from the passenger list indexes into this database. Also included are border entries for individuals whose surname starts with the letter C. Click here to find out how to access earlier and later immigration records.

Welcome to the Canadian Genealogy Centre
One year after putting the Canadian Genealogy Centre online, Library and Archives Canada offers a new version of the Centre in response to the needs of its users. The Centre reflects the complete integration of genealogical content from the former Web sites of the National Archives of Canada, the National Library of Canada and the Canadian Genealogy Centre. All pages have been updated and reconfigured. The Canadian Genealogy Centre is also a single window providing electronic access to genealogical resources in Canada. These pages will be developed in stages. We would like to know what you want this genealogy and family history site to be like as it develops. Do not hesitate to send us Your Comments This site has been made possible, in part, by the Canadian Culture Online Program of the Department of Canadian Heritage Last updated: 2005-03-03

Look in the searchable "inGeneas Database" for more than 50,000 Canadian passenger and immigration records from the 1700s to the early 1900s. Search results give a listing of matches; following links from the result page gives you info on the person's age, the year of the record, and a description. You can order transcripts of records you want more info on; you can also order a photocopy of the original microfilmed document. (Click on the Order button to bring up the order form; there is a fee for these services.) This site also features the only electronic version in existence of the National Archives of Canada (NAC) Miscellaneous Immigration Index (14,519 records previously available in card-file format only at the Archives). Once you locate a record in the NAC, you can either order a copy of it from the National Archives (instructions are included) or you can borrow a copy of the microfilm and make your own copy.
