Canada Day!
Canada Day is celebrated on 1st July and marks the anniversary of the unification of Upper and Lower Canada into the Dominion of Canada in 1867. Formerly known as Dominion Day, the name was changed to Canada Day in 1982 when the constitution was revised. The day is marked throughout Canada by parades, fireworks, and the display of flags. TWO KINDS OF DINOSAURS

This lesson plan is for grades K-2. Students compare two kinds of dinosaurs based upon the structure of the pelvis. THE DINOSAUR BODY Students learn that body design affects balance. Written for grades 1-4. WHERE CAN I SEE THE SEA? In this lesson plan students learn how to be a paleontologist. They are presented with a grid and pictures that they must draw in the correct space. Students then analyze the data. Written for grades 3-12. The Field Museum of Natural History At this site you can take a tour of the museum and see the dinosaur artifacts. You can read about the various dinosaurs. Teachers can download lesson ideas about dinosaurs under the Education section.

Renegade Crafts!
First off, anything entitled with the word 'renegade' conjurs crazy images in my head, add that to 'crafts' and 'McCarren park' and in my mind there are Williamsburg-hipster-rebels hiding behind trees weaving baskets. In reality though, this first annual Renegade Craft Fair is a two day event, featuring over "150 crafty superstars." Now, the crafts may well be to costly to purchase for my overpriced Brooklyn abode, but its fun to go look and get inspired by all the cool stuff people create. Date: June 25th and 26th
Time: 10:30am to 5pm

http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/funology1/groundhog.htm
Groundhog Day Funology February 2 nd The Origin of Groundhog Day dates back to the early German settlers and their superstition relating to crop planting. As the superstition goes, hibernating animals would come out of their winter homes to observe the weather on this day. If the animal, specifically a groundhog, would see the sun, his own shadow would frighten him back into his winter home. If the ground hog came out on a cloudy day, he would stay above ground and spring would soon arrive. Each year people from all over travel to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to watch with great anticipation to see if Phil, the most famous groundhog makes his way above ground to check on the weather. The Canada Aviation Museum is proud and fortunate to have so many volunteers taking part in its many projects. Last year, from April 2004 to March 2005, from our bank of 235 volunteers, 125 of them dedicated an impressive total of 12,400 hours to our wonderful Museum. If you have time to give, are responsible, outgoing, and fun loving, we can use your help! Listed below are the areas where we are currently in need of assistance at this time. If you would like more information, or to receive an application package, please contact Johic Nicolas at or by phone at 991-2197. The activities performed by volunteers at the Museum are quite varied. Our volunteers animate craft workshops and/or prepare materials for these; provide interpretation of the Cessna aircraft and of selected aircraft cockpits to our visitors; scan archival photographs; write essays for our website ; give tours of the Museum collection; help catalogue the collection and copy loaned logbooks.
