Vietnam United States of America. Culture is the way of life that a child is raised in, the things that are taught to the children. It includes the material/visible and the nonmaterial/invisible traits. Cultural traits that are material and visible may be money, land, food, and dress habits. Culture traits that are nonmaterial and invisible may be traditions, rituals, religion, and prayers. Vietnamese temple. Traditional dress worn by the women of Vietnam Traditional American Thanksgiving Turkey, Typical Vietnamese dinner, eaten by most Vietnamese. Culture is affected by the types of animals or resources living in the environment. If Vietnam were not a farming country they would not eat rice as the main food, In the United states, we have the right land to grow grass so we raise a lot of beef. In America beef is the main meat. Geography changes much about the culture of any country. The natural resources provided can change the way buildings may be built, or the way clothes are made. Depending on the geography, the culture can be very different. Picture of the Cambodian geography.

22. CAMBODIA - LoveToKnow Article On CAMBODIA
The salient feature of cambodian geography is the large lake TonlSap, in adepression 68 m. long from south-east to north-west and 15 m. wide.
http://47.1911encyclopedia.org/C/CA/CAMBODIA.htm
CAMBODIA
CAMBAY, GULF OF, an inlet in the coast of India, in the Gujarat division of Bombay. It is about 80 m. in length, but is shallow and abounds in shoals and sandbanks. It is supposed that the depth of water in this gulf has been decreasing for more than two centuries past. The tides, which are very high, run into it with amazing velocity, but at low water the bottom is left nearly dry for some distance below the latitude of the town of Cambay. It is, however, an important inlet, being the channel by which the valuable produce of central Gujarat and the British districts of Ahmedabad and Broach is exported; but the railway from Bombay to Baroda and Ahmedabad, near Cambay, has for some time past been attracting the trade to itself. CAMBER (derived through the Fr. from Lat. camera, vault), in architecture, the upward curvature given to a beam and provided for the depression or sagging, which it is liable to, before it has settled down to its bearings. A camber arch is a slight rise given to the straight-arch to correct an apparent sinking in the centre (see ARCH). The best works of Cambiasi are to be seen in Genoa. In the church of S. Giorgiothe martyrdom of that saint; in the Palazzo Imperiali Terralba, a Genoese suburba fresco of the Rape of the Sabines ; in S. Maria da Carignanoa Piet, containing his own portrait and (according to tradition) that of his beloved sister-inlaw. In the Escorial he executed several pictures; one is a Paradise on the vaulting of the church, with a multitude of figures. For this picture he received 12,000 ducats, probably the largest sum that had, up to that time, ever been given for a single work.

Culture War, homefront battle, Part Two
In Part One of this essay, you will recall that I juxtaposed my own daughter's descent into the Hell of Political Correctness with the story of how the USA lost the Viet-Nam war. In this part, I'll show how the US lost control of it's culture over the Vietnam War, and show the final stage of the poisoning of my daughter's mind, bringing us up to the present. It's not a pretty picture, for me, because I was over there, fighting. I was over there fighting because I failed in my primary attempt to land a job with the CIA, due to collusion on the part of one professor I was learning from. He was a closet member of the Weather Underground, and I fell victim to his guile. It's not a pretty picture for my daughter, as she will relate via her correspondence to me. It's not a pretty picture for you, gentle readers, if you have children in our school system. Paint that picture I must, though, so follow me into darkness.... It's Spring, 1970, and the US military is at a crossroads in the VietNam war. We have gotten our logistics down pat, we have some tactics working for us and we're even trying to reform the notoriously corrupt South Vietnamese government. We have learned that the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) has taken over eastern Cambodia, and has massed divisions of men there, and tens of thousands of tons of supplies. We start to get into border skirmishes on the ground, but each time we get an NVA unit almost surrounded, they slip back across the border with few casualties.

Introduction First, thank you and your team for supporting this important mission. We appreciate that you volunteered to prepare a briefing on Cambodia’s geography for Prof. Edwards’s missing diplomatic staff. You must get your work back to Prof. Edwards very quickly, but the work must be accurate. The Quest Here’s how to proceed. Your first task is to do your online research to identify and note important geographical, demographical and ecological facts. Second, you’ll figure out which of those facts are the most relevant to your work. (Remember that Prof. Edwards is looking for background to help him understand how to promote growth in the region.) Third, you’ll prepare a map showing key features of the Cambodian countryside and relevant information about weather, the land, its plants, animals, and human population. You may want to create a key for your map to keep it from getting too cluttered. And, you might consider using a separate page for your team’s comments and notes to help explain the map and its information. Continue with the Quest CMPP

World Facts Index Thailand Map of Thailand Boundaries
Thailand in the late 1980s shared boundaries with Burma, Malaysia, Laos, and Cambodia. Although neither China nor Vietnam bordered Thailand, the territory of both countries came within 100 kilometers of Thai territory. Many parts of Thailand's boundaries followed natural features, such as the Mekong River. Most borders had been stabilized and demarcated in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in accordance with treaties forced on Thailand and its neighbors by Britain and France. In some areas, however, exact boundaries, especially along Thailand's eastern borders with Laos and Cambodia, were still in dispute in the late 1980s. Topography and Drainage
The most conspicuous features of Thailand's terrain are high mountains, a central plain, and an upland plateau. Mountains cover much of northern Thailand and extend along the Burmese border down through the Malay Peninsula. The central plain is a lowland area drained by the Chao Phraya and its tributaries, the country's principal river system, which feeds into the delta at the head of the Bight of Bangkok. The Chao Phraya system drains about one-third of the nation's territory. In the northeastern part of the country the Khorat Plateau, a region of gently rolling low hills and shallow lakes, drains into the Mekong River through the Mae Nam Mun. The Mekong system empties into the South China Sea and includes a series of canals and dams.

Public School System
Traditional education in Cambodia was handled by the local wat, and the bonzes were the teachers. The students were almost entirely young boys, and the education was limited to memorizing Buddhist chants in Pali. During the period of the French protectorate, an educational system based on the French model was inaugurated alongside the traditional system. Initially, the French neglected education in Cambodia. Only seven high school students graduated in 1931, and only 50,000 to 60,000 children were enrolled in primary school in 1936. In the year immediately following independence, the number of students rapidly increased. Vickery suggests that education of any kind was considered an "absolute good" by all Cambodians and that this attitude eventually created a large group of unemployed or underemployed graduates by the late 1960s. From the early twentieth century until 1975, the system of mass education operated on the French model. The educational system was divided into primary, secondary, higher, and specialized levels. Public education was under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, which exercised full control over the entire system; it established syllabi, hired and paid teachers, provided supplies, and inspected schools. An inspector of primary education, who had considerable authority, was assigned to each province. Cultural committees under the Ministry of Education were responsible for "enriching the Cambodian language."

Background:
Following a five-year struggle, communist Khmer Rouge forces captured Phnom Penh in 1975 and ordered the evacuation of all cities and towns; over 1 million displaced people died from execution or enforced hardships. A 1978 Vietnamese invasion drove the Khmer Rouge into the countryside and touched off 13 years of fighting. UN-sponsored elections in 1993 helped restore some semblance of normalcy, as did the rapid diminishment of the Khmer Rouge in the mid-1990s. A coalition government, formed after national elections in 1998, brought renewed political stability and the surrender of remaining Khmer Rouge forces.

Geography
Cambodia has a land area of 181,035 square kilometers in the southwestern part of the Indochina peninsula, about 20 percent of which is used for agriculture. It lies completely within the tropics with its southernmost points slightly more than 100 above the Equator. The country's capital city is Phnom Penh. International borders are shared with Thailand and the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the west and on the north, and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam on the east and the southeast. The country is bounded on the southwest by the Gulf of Thailand. In comparison with its neighbors, Cambodia is a geographically compact country administratively composed of . 20 provinces, three of which have relatively short maritime boundaries, 2 municipalities, 172 districts, 1,547 communes. The country has a coastline of 435 km and extensive mangrove stands, some of which are relatively undisturbed.
The dominant features of the Cambodian landscape are the large, almost centrally located, Tonle Sap (Great Lake) and the Bassac River systems and the Mekong River, which traverses the country from north to south. Surrounding the Central Plains which covered three quarters of the country's area are the more densely forested and sparsely populated highlands, comprising: the Elephant Mountains and Cardamom Mountains of the southwest and western regions; the Dangrek Mountains of the north adjoining the Korat Plateau of Thailand; and the Ratanakiri Plateau and Chhlong highlands on the east merging with the Central Highlands of Viet Nam.
