In 1906 everything was lost in the earthquake and fire. There is no hope!!
Well, not exactly. Although the birth, marriage and death certificates perished, there are still many resources available (please note that San Francisco County has only one city: San Francisco; they are served by one government) . The biggest one is newspaper notices . We have been collecting them and publishing them on this site (see the links down below). Otherwise, we have a page dedicated to other databases and indexes available on the internet now. Take a look: Online Genealogy Databases You want a document from 1906 to current, but don't have a date? The birth and death indexes, and some of the marriage, are on the internet . The Assessor-Recorder's office has a complete index of marriage records. If you know of a resource we don't have listed, let us know! Please contact us and we will be happy to add it. Births

NORCAL Genealogy Index
A State-Wide Index to Genealogical Information in California
WELCOME TO THE NORCAL GENEALOGY INDEX!
The NORCAL Genealogy Index lists state-wide genealogical indexes that help genealogists and historians to locate source material for their research. The object of this index is to provide researchers with a complete list of index references and a description of their use and content, so that the researcher can copy them off the web pages and prepare themselves for visits to research libraries around California. These indexes were compiled mainly by members of the Northern California genealogy discussion list ( NORCAL-L ). New indexes will be added to the list.
HOW TO USE THE INDEX
The indexes are arranged by subjects in the Table of Contents . First choose a subject of interest. Then click on one of the titles of an index to see a description of it and a listing of California locations where it can be found. The description should help you decide before you go to the library whether it will be useful or not. The listing of locations should help you locate the nearest copy of that index.
HOW TO SUBMIT A REVIEW
If you would like to submit a description of a state-wide index to be included here, please send the following information to

Dollarhide Seminars:
Know all the " Rules "
The Census Book
: A Genealogist's Guide to Federal Census Facts, Schedules and Indexes , by William Dollarhide
With over 80,000 people invited to access my GenealogyBulletin.com articles each week on the Internet, the idea of public appearances to speak to a few hundred genealogists in person may seem a waste of time. But I still feel that one of the best parts of my job is meeting with other genealogy enthusiasts around the country. From 1985 to date, I have lectured at about 620 genealogical seminars, representing personal contact with over 50,000 people interested in their family's heritage. In addition, I have attended and/or lectured at dozens of national or regional conferences, where it has been possible to meet thousands more genealogists in person.
This month and through the fall of 2000, those of you living in the west (Texas, California, or Oregon) are invited to attend one the seminars in which I will be speaking on genealogy subjects. I would love to meet you in person and hear what you think of the GenealogyBulletin.com Web site. I will listen to what you have to say about future subjects, suggestions for improvements, or even your complaints. But mainly, I would just like to say hello, and perhaps present some ideas for your genealogical success.
