Message from Mike Farrell President, DPF News and Events Order This Amazing Book Today! Surviving Justice: America's Wrongfully Convicted and Exonerated by Dave Eggers (Editor), Lola Vollen (Editor) Calvin Willis is a lucky man. On September 30, 2003, Calvin was declared innocent and set free from Angola State Prison after serving twenty-two years for a crime he did not commit. But then, like many other exonerees, Calvin’s luck ran out. His new world was not open to him, and freedom was not all that he had dreamed it would be. Hitting the streets without housing, money, or a change of clothes, exonerees across America are released only to fend for themselves. In the tradition of Studs Terkel’s oral histories, this book collects the voices and stories of the exonerees for whom life—inside and out—is forever framed by extraordinary injustice. What Preschool For All (PFA) Means to You: CDPI'S Fall Forum will focus on PFA - Past, Present, and Future
The Child Development Policy Institute (CDPI) has provided over a decade of advocacy on behalf of the children of California. Its mission is to promote public policy that ensures children's success and productive citizenship through quality early education to build California's social and economic vitality. To help us achieve this goal, CDPI has held for the past four years a fall public policy forum that brings together a wide range of early care and education providers, teachers, advocates, state agencies and legislative representatives. Each year, CDPI focuses on a topic that currently or will potentially impact the early education field and engages the most informed and influential of speakers to provide the latest and most relevant information to our attendees. It is a unique opportunity for the members of the early education field and CDPI is the only organization currently providing this type of public policy event.
This year, the Fall Forum will take place in Sacramento, CA on October 17-18, and we will be focusing on
