(Harasim 1997:3) “Students use of computers and learning about computers should be integrated with other learning activities. Students should develop skills and understandings through using computers for meaningful tasks that are closely related to curriculum goals” (Education Queensland 1995a p. 3)

Source : ERIC Clearinghouse for Science Mathematics and Environmental Education Columbus OH. Teaching Critical Thinking through Environmental Education. ERIC/SMEAC Environmental Education Digest No. 2. The ability to think critically is essential if individuals are to live, work, and function effectively in our current and changing society. Students must make choices, evaluations, and judgments every day regarding (1) information to obtain, use and believe, (2) plans to make, and (3) actions to take. As adults they will be living in a complex world and in a democracy where both individual and collective actions will require effective selection, processing, and use of information. State and local curriculum guides contain goal and objective statements regarding the importance of critical thinking skills. National, state association, business and industry reports on education produced since 1983 have called for increased emphasis on higher-order learning skills, including critical thinking skills. At the same time national and state evaluations have indicated a high percentage of students in American schools are not able to use critical thinking skills effectively. Business and industry continue to report that many employees are not able to think critically in job situations.

    No form of education is more commercialised than management education. But are business schools teaching the right things?
    Economist Staff
    , The Economist May 21, 2004 Does that spell disaster? Not for top schools such as Tepper, which turn away far more applicants than they accept. Applications for MBA courses are counter-cyclical: they tend to rise when executive jobs are scarce and shrink when they are plentiful. This year's decline is a sign of the current economic boom, just as the 40% rise in applications to Tepper two years ago partly reflected hard times in the managerial job market. document.write(''); document.write(''); document.write(''); document.write(''); document.write(''); document.write('');
