The objective of financial reporting is to communicate the results of business decisions to managers, investors, creditors, regulators and other interested parties. We explore how accounting measures significant economic events and reports the results in statements of financial position and financial performance. Based on our understanding of the reporting process, we learn to assess the quality of earnings and to analyze accounting data in order to assess corporate risk and performance.
