About Our Family Research
Our family research began with some simple questions innocently asked by our teenaged daughter. The questions were simple enough; "Where did great-grandpop come from?"... but the answers were hard to come by. I realized that for families such as mine (with origins in foreign lands), the answers to such questions can only be provided by the oldest living members of the family. Interviews with these family elders led to interesting revelations. Photos and documents, as well as stories followed; hopefully, the result will be trasure trove for my children and for future family members.

New Brunswick
New Brunswick, Canada The Perfect Place to work, start a business, raise a family, and enjoy life... a place where you can belong. Few places in the world offer their citizens a high standard of life, a low cost of living, and a wide range of employment, investment and business opportunities. In New Brunswick, Canada's only officially bilingual (English/French) province, we are proud to call this seaside province home and we are proud to share it with the world. Based on our desire to spur increased economic diversity and opportunity, New Brunswick has a commitment to encourage immigration applications. We have signed a Provincial Nominee Agreement with the Government of Canada which facilitates immigration for people who are interested in bringing their skills and management experience to New Brunswick. New Brunswick's fine schools, job opportunities, vibrant culture, diversified economy, and year-round recreational environment, have attracted people from all over the world to live on our seacoast, work in our cities, farm our land and raise their families in riverside towns.

By Thomas L. Jones
Prologue
The criminal organization known as Cosa Nostra had its roots in the Mafia. Members of this secret society fled Sicily and immigrated to America during the 1880’s. By 1890, Mafia groups had formed in New Orleans, New York and other parts of the country. In the 1920’s, Prohibition offered these groups massive opportunities to develop great wealth and enormous power. By 1931, Cosa Nostra, the American version of the Mafia, was in place and operational. Over the next sixty years it evolved into a sophisticated criminal organization with rules and behavioural codes of conduct. These helped protect and shield it from law enforcement attack and harassment. For the first thirty years of its existence, most of these agencies did not even admit to its presence. When Robert Kennedy took over the Justice Department in 1961, the FBI’s New York office, the biggest in the country, had more than 400 agents looking for "Reds under beds." They had exactly four agents tracking the largest criminal conspiracy since the secession of the Confederacy.

PLEASE READ THIS
I started this web site in 1995 as a hobby, but around 2002 I stopped having the time necessary to keep the site updated. I decided to leave the "main pages" in tact, but have not updated any of the sections since 1992. I'm sorry if you find links on the Mollica Links and Mollica Menagerie pages (or elsewhere) that no longer work, but there are still plenty that do. I apologize if the site contains outdated information about you or your family. I don't plan on doing any updates in the foreseeable future, but hopefully there's enough here for you to enjoy "as is." Take care ... Rick Mollica 9/1/04

EMIL JOSEPHINE ANN MARY JOSEPH JOSEPHINE Family Portrait When I started this web site and had no clue about how to build a page, I jumped right in and of course made mistakes. I'm trying to correct my errors and have made a few changes as to the opening page. Please bear with me while I try to make this site Search Engine friendly. Thank you, Carol Joan Emil Slama's parents, Karl and Julianna immigrated to the United States from Osijek, Austria-Hungary. Karl in 1912, and Julianna and four children, in 1913. Little is known about Karl and Julianna's lineage in the old country. During the war between the Serbs and the Croats in 1998, the building that housed the records was destroyed and the records were burned, but all is not lost, they were put on micro film by the Mormon Church. The information about their lineage can be researched by contacting them. Because genealogy charts are so complicated, I have kept these pages simple, for my own benefit. If the next generation wants to delve into an in depth search, I feel that gathering all the information I can about their descendants since their marriage will be helpful.
