But when I came across the article "Dry Drunk" - - Is Bush Making a Cry for Help? in American Politics Journal by Alan Bisbort, I was ready to concede, in the case of George W. Bush, the phrase may be quite apt. Dry drunk is a slang term used by members and supporters of Alcoholics Anonymous and substance abuse counselors to describe the recovering alcoholic who is no longer drinking, one who is dry, but whose thinking is clouded. Such an individual is said to be dry but not truly sober. Such an individual tends to go to extremes. we would be going. First, in this essay, we will look at the characteristics of the so-called "dry drunk;" then we will see if they apply to this individual, our president; and then we will review his drinking history for the record. What is the dry drunk syndrome ? "Dry drunk" traits consist of:

Broadcasting watchdogs in the UK have banned adverts for the satirical cartoon 2DTV after ruling that they were insulting to US President George W Bush. The commercials were to be broadcast to promote a Christmas video for the ITV1 show.

Uisdean Maclean,
TV ad watchdog The Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre (BACC) ruled that the ads were offensive because they questioned the president's intelligence, and without having asked his permission. The BACC is shown adverts before they can go out on television. In one of the ads, a cartoon President Bush was shown opening a copy of the video and saying: "My favourite - just pop it in the video player." But he places it in a toaster instead and the videotape is burnt.

President George Bush and the Gilded Age
Yoshi Tsurumi (Professor of International Business, Baruch College, the City University of New York ) Something really strange has happened to the U.S. under the Bush Administration. With her ever bulging budget deficits and foreign debts, America's skewed income distribution is rapidly making the U.S. resemble Argentina or Mexico. The "Jobless Recovery" is not a political mirage, but a serious problem. America's GDP is increasing at an annual rate of about 4.0% this year. But, only those Wall Street "money gamers" and self-dealing "management aristocrats" of Corporate America are dizzy with their huge bonuses, padded salaries, and self-dealt stock options. The remaining hard working Americans cannot eat "GDP." The U.S. has widening income gap between a few "haves" and many "have-nots." During the last economic recovery period of March 1991 to April 1993, a 10% increase in GDP increased manufacturing jobs and service jobs 3% and 5.9% respectively. However, for the present economic recovery since November 2001, a 10% increase in GDP is increasing manufacturing and service jobs only 0.7% and 0.9% respectively. Just to keep up with her population growth, the U.S. needs to create about 230,000 jobs a month. If the U.S. wants to employ the 3 million unemployed workers thrown out of work under the Bush Administration, the U.S. would have to create a lot more jobs monthly. Last month, however, the U.S. only created 115,000 jobs. President Bush has now abandoned his earlier declared promise of "creating 2.6 million jobs by the fall of 2004."

President Bush on Monday said, "I just met with my Homeland Security Council to discuss ongoing relief efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. I have made it clear that I believe it's a national security matter for people to review emergency plans. FOR RESPONSIVE POLITICS PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH 2004 ELECTION Introduction President Bush won reelection against Sen. John Kerry in a presidential race that shattered previous fundraising and spending records to become the most expensive in U.S. history. Both candidates benefitted from the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, which went into effect just before the 2004 election cycle began and doubled the individual contribution limit from $1,000 to $2,000. The Center for Responsive Politics analyzed campaign contributions to Bush and the other presidential candidates during the election cycle that began Jan. 1, 2003. The figures are based on data from the Federal Election Commission, which collects campaign finance reports from the candidates. Summary Data : Bush took in a record $360 million for the 2004 election, easily exceeding the $193 million he raised four years earlier. Bush spent $306 million, another record. John Kerry finished behind Bush in the money chase, but still posted totals that far exceeded those seen in any previous election.

Why You Should Vote For George Bush For President
A funny thing happened on the way to the 2004 presidential election… We took a side trip back 35 years to the Vietnam War and the late 60s-early 70s. When John Kerry decided to center his campaign around his four-month tour of duty in Vietnam (as evidence to his fitness for command in a time of war), he reopened old wounds not healed by time, but rather simmering just below the surface all these years.
John Edwards is right. There are two Americas; but, in this case, the Height-Ashbury vs. the Silent Majority and bringing Vietnam up again, has re-ignited the culture war debate in a time of war.
Oh yeah, there’s the war on terrorism, sort of forgotten in the discussion about Vietnam and Swiftboats; Iraq and weapons of mass destruction (WMD); multi-colored alerts and political timing; Fahrenheit 9/11 and Abu Ghrab; MoveOn.org and 572 groups; Rush Limbaugh and Fox News and Florida 2000.
And George Bush’s presidency is at the epicenter.
When George Bush was elected in 2000, there were some who believed that his "compassionate conservative" theme would result in an "uneventful presidency." Because the Cold War was over, and as the Clinton years proved, foreign policy adventures would be of the United Nations peacekeeping kind, and Bush’s domestic policy would be minor conservative initiatives.
