PubMED Search Burns are injuries to tissue that result from heat, electricity, radiation, or chemicals. Burns are usually caused by heat (thermal burns), such as fire, steam, tar, or hot liquids. Burns caused by chemicals are similar to thermal burns, whereas burns caused by radiation, sunlight, and electricity tend to differ significantly. Thermal and chemical burns usually occur because heat or chemicals contact part of the body's surface, most often the skin. Thus, the skin usually sustains most of the damage. However, severe surface burns may penetrate to deeper body structures, such as fat, muscle, or bone. When tissues are burned, fluid leaks into them from the blood vessels, causing swelling and pain. In addition, damaged skin and other body surfaces are easily infected because they can no longer act as a barrier against invading organisms. At first, I thought it was caffeine abuse come back to haunt me but no. Coffee wouldn't touch this. Claritin-D wouldn't touch this. And it was clearly sinus related. Mid-day, in TOR-CHARRR, I brought out the big guns. Benedryl. That took care of the headache. Oh man, did that take care of the headache. It also meant I spent many hours in a drug induced coma yesterday, then went to bed. And woke up at three or four in the morning with a resurged headache. So I took more benedryl and went back to bed. It was a happy bed. I dreamt a movie that Weds and I were watching. It was about a rescue dog and the man who hated it. Also, there was a con man who drove a green car and worked the same lot every day, but he was a decent joe and when he was hauled off to jail, all the local businesses started suffering because he wasn't there any more. And there was a moderate amount of underwater photography. In my dream, Weds turned to me and said "this movie's very weird." I agreed. We disagreed as to our opinion of the dog.
