The founding of the Victoria Gas Company in 1860 began the BC Hydro legacy. 23 years later, inventor and entrepreneur Robert McMicking turned on the first commercial electric lights in Canada. Along with a group of local investors, McMicking incorporated the Victoria Electric Illuminating Company and electric lights lit up the streets. The age of electricity had arrived. Vision
BC Electric was the brainchild of financier Robert Horne-Payne and future Lieutenant-Governor Frank Barnard. With money raised from investors in England, they set out to build the coast's first hydroelectric plant near Victoria in . After several years of prosperity and growth the company was taken under control by the Montreal-based Power Corporation in 1928. Progress
In , the provincial government created the BC Power Commission . This public sector enterprise began acquiring small utilities, extending electrification in rural or isolated areas, and building or modernizing both generating plants and transmission systems. By 1961, it served over 200 communities all over the province, many with small diesel generating units.

Welcome to the OLD BC Ringette Homepage
This page is officially closed. BCRA is producing a new and improved website that hopefully will be updated more often than this one. I was finding it very hard to obtain updated information, so I have turned over this site to someone in the Lower Mainland to maintain.
The new address will be posted on here for those pages that haven't updated their links. I had fun working with this page and I hope that the new one will be even better!!.
The bcringette@yahoo.com email address is also closed. If you would like to contact BCRA please email Rick Daly at bcringette@telus.net . The Yahoo! address will no longer be checked. Please update your address books.

Welcome to Bowron River Outfitters
The thrill of stalking a 7-foot grizzly or hunting for trophy class moose along the rugged terrain of the Cariboo Mountains is surpassed only by the sheer splendor of this pristine territory. Bowron River Outfitters is conveniently located just one hour east of Prince George in the Omineca region of British Columbia. The 1,400 square mile outdoorsman's haven is forested with mixed stands of fir, cedar, spruce and hemlock, providing rich habitat for moose grizzlies and black bear . The Bowron River and Lake chain meander through the alpine meadows and forested areas, allowing for spottings of moose from river boat or by stalking. The sweeping cast of a fly fisherman over these sparkling clear waters will tempt salmon, trout and kokanne to the surface. Wading into the cool waters to discover you are sharing the serenity of the morning with a black bear intent on having salmon for breakfast is a breathtaking occasion.

The Daily Courier - Kelowna, BC.
A work crew should finish the first of 12 Myra Canyon trestles lost in the 2003 fire by Christmas. The six bridge-builders began constructing forms for the footings at the bottom of trestle No. 18 a week ago. For Ken Campbell, a leader in the campaign to rebuild the heritage structure, the sounds of banging hammers and heavy equipment are music to his ears.

Before giving details of Plato 's life we will take a few moments to discuss how definite the details are which we give below. The details are mostly given by Plato himself in letters which seem, on the face of it, to make them certain. However, it is disputed whether Plato did indeed write the letters so there are three possible interpretations. Firstly that Plato wrote the letters and therefore the details are accurate. Secondly that although not written by Plato, the letters were written by someone who knew him or at least had access to accurate information on his life. The third possibility, which unfortunately cannot be ruled out, is that they were written by someone as pure fiction. Next we should comment on the name 'Plato'. In [13] Rowe writes:- It was claimed that Plato's real name was Aristocles, and that 'Plato' was a nickname

Scuba Diving in British Columbia
British Columbia offers some of the best diving in the world, with tonnes (tons for the metric impaired) of marine life. Many marine creatures grow to exceptional size, like 1 meter seastars or 60kg octopus. The waters are cold but nutrient rich, and in many places the nutrients are moved about by substantial currents. This wealth of nutrients sometimes makes for less that stellar visibility, but that's the price you pay for diving in some of the best sites in the world. To find out more about general conditions in B.C. check out the dive site reviews section. British Columbia also offers the chance to dive in spots that compared to many dive sites are virtually untouched (or at least as untouched as any place can be in today's world). In general the charter groups are under 15 diver (many as few as 10) and the diving is much less controlled. What I mean is no cattle boat diving. Look around these pages and see if you think diving in British Columbia might be for you.
