PCI systems make extensive use of bridging to achieve innovative, high performance architectures. Through bridging, systems may be customized for slot expansion. Bridging on add-in cards can add multiple channels or improve performance by off-loading the CPU. However to take advantage of all that bridging can offer, system BIOS firmware and chipset silicon need to be able to support bridge operation. Readers Rating

Introduction General Transportation King's Valley ... Projects BRIDGES ÇAÐLAYAN BRIDGE
The bridge which is known as either "çalak" or "çelenk" is a remnant of Daniþmend. It was built by Ýltekin Gazi in the 11th century. It is in the Helvacý district in Amasya on the Yeþilýrmak river. It is 70 metres in lenght and 4 metres in width. It has been repaired in different times and it has six arches.
MEYDAN (SQUARE, STATION) BRIDGE
It is located above Yeþilýrmak in Khatun district. The middle of the bridge stands upright. The bridge has got four divisions and was built with yellow cube shaped stones. Later, its base was widened and then metal railings were added.
KUÞ (KÜNÇ) BRIDGE
It is located in Þamlar District, upper-side of the Yeþilýrmak. It was the work of the Seljuks, built by Sultan Mesud's daughter Hundi Hatun. For a long time Kuþ Bridge had been called Hundi Hatun Bridge. The arches of the bridge are round and all are at the same size. The bridge was built with stones end bricks. It has four under divisions. It was also called Kunç bridge.
ALÇAK (LOW) BRIDGE
The Low Bridge is on the Yeþilýrmak, opposite the Rock Tombs of Pontic Kings through the line of Girls Palace, between Hatuniye District and Ziya Pasha boulvard. It is the best example of Roman Period's architecture. It has concrete platform having four columns built of brick settled on Roman arches. In 1865, a wooden bridge was built by Ziya Pasha using the arches as a foot. After that bridge was ruined in 1882, it was rebuilt by using brick in 1883 and it was restored in 1940.

Build Software Like Building Bridges
Create quality code and consistent architecture with model-driven, pattern-based development
by Mike Burba Posted February 5, 2004 I f bridges were built with the same architectural discipline that many of today's organizations use to build software, would anyone dare drive a car across them? I, for one, would have second thoughts based on my experience. As a consultant, I used to be called upon to provide an outside perspective and in-depth assessment of application development projects that had gone bad. During the analysis, my team inevitably found difficulties with the application architecture. This was particularly true in the early days of Java development when many applications were copy-and-paste replicas of the J2EE Pet Store application with, of course, some additional hand-coded components that were added on to make the application appear more customized.

Manhattan is of course an island, with the East River to the east, The Hudson river to the west, New York Harbor to the south and the Harlem River to the north.
Boat and ferry service was unreliable, particularly in winter, when ice jams often prevented boats from crossing.
Any crossing of water by a man-made structure would be a huge undertaking. But by the mid-1800's, it became apparent that bridges were necessary, not only for the movement of people, but for the very economic health of the region. Not only did people need to move back and forth between job and home, but goods could be transported into and out of Manhattan much more easily.
The construction of the Brooklyn Bridge was the first major step in linking Manhattan Island to the surrounding areas. At the time, it was no small task just conceiving of such a thing. The Brooklyn Bridge was only the first of an amazing system of complex bridges, and later, tunnels, built to connect Manhattan with the rest of the region. Location: East River. Park Row, Manhattan
    to Adams Street, Brooklyn
Architects: John A. and Washington Roebling
    Date Completed: 1883
    Height: 272 feet (83 meters)
    Length: 6016 feet (1834 meters)
The Brooklyn Bridge, highly recognizable landmark and cultural icon, was the dream of John A. Roebling, the inventor of wire cable and an accomplished bridge builder.
Designed in 1867, the bridge's prototype was a similar, though smaller structure over the Ohio River at Cincinnati.
The dramatic butressed gothic towers are constructed entirely of granite. The roadway platform is hung on two-inch diameter steel suspenders strung from two pairs of cables - the catenaries - sixteen inches in diameter.
Each cable is composed of 5,296 galvanized steel wires (the total length of wire used is 14,357 miles). Each of the four cables is capable of sustaining a live load of 12,000 tons. The opening of the bridge in 1883 was marred by the deaths of twelve pedestrians, who were trampled during a panic set off by a shouted warning, anonymous and groundless, that the bridge was in danger of imminent collapse.

Excessive vibration of the bridge has led to concerns about its fatigue life. Arroyo Cangrejillo Bridge , Andalgala, Catamarca, Argentina
    OPAC
designed this 336 m (1100 ft) span bridge to cross a 90m (300ft) deep canyon. Its taut cables sag only about 7m or 1/48th of the span. After the cables were strung across the canyon, the grillage of steel floorbeams and stringers was erected, starting at one end. 92 of the 134 segments were completed when this photo was taken. The nominal erection rate was 8 to 10 segments/day. This bridge is featured on the February 1999 cover of Structural Engineering International , the Journal of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering . designed a pedestrian overcrossing of the I-80 freeway for the City of Berkeley, California that is now under construction. The 95m span basket-handle arch span across the freeway consists of tubualr steel arch ribs supporting a lightweight concrete post-tensioned edge girder deck. Its color, texture, amenities, sloping ADA-compliant curved ramps, touchdown plaza, and landscaping are not shown.
