by Annie Toglia, MES
On behalf of Annie Toglia's parents, Rose and Ray Toglia, it is with profound sadness that I bring to you the news of Annie's passing. On June 8, 2005, Annie passed away in Northern Westchester Hospital due to complications from her cancer with her loved ones by her side.
The Toglia family plans to carry out Annie's wishes to keep Staying Abreast alive. In memoriam, we are in the process of turning Staying Abreast Inc. into a non-profit organization, which will continue to sell Annie's book and posters, and provide current information relating to living with cancer. Her family and friends welcome your comments and suggestions for Staying Abreast's future development.
We thank you for your continued support. Please direct all communications either via the website or call me at 917-446-2955.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Over two decades of building breast cancer awareness and providing information and hope for future innovations in breast cancer treatment.
2005 marks more than 20 years that National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) has educated women about early breast cancer detection, diagnosis and treatment. This year, NBCAM is again reaching out to women with several key messages, most notably, the importance of early detection through annual mammography screening for women over 40. Mammography screenings are a woman's best chance for detecting breast cancer early. When coupled with new treatment options, mammography screenings can significantly improve a woman's chances of survival.

Once a terrifying and deadly diagnosis, in the new millennium breast cancer may become a manageable condition, thanks to the work of women's advocates over the past 25 years. Several of those crusading individuals are featured in "Voices of the Millennium," including actress Patricia Ireland and former first lady Betty Ford.
