Men's hockey team continues dominance of Bowling Green
By Adam Jardy Published: Monday, February 14, 2005 If a mirror was held to Friday night's hockey game against Bowling Green, it would reflect the action that took place Saturday night as well. Just don't use the glass from the Schottenstein Center.
The Buckeyes (22-7-3, 19-4-1 Central Collegiate Hockey Association) jumped out to a three-goal lead in both contests on the strength of two power-play goals, allowed Bowling Green (13-11-4, 10-9-3 CCHA) to get back in the game and eventually held on for a 3-2 victory on the strength of some outstanding goalplay by junior Dave Caruso. The win was OSu's ninth straight over Bowling Green.
"I thought Caruso was the difference in the end," OSU coach John Markell said. "It was a mirror image (from the game Friday), but we played a better game (Saturday). BG stayed steady throughout. You need everything against a team like BG."

"I was elated with the men's team's performance," said Martiny. "It was hard to compete with the other teams after losing two of our top bowlers, but they surprised me."

BOWLING: Stevenson takes home both titles
Titans' Kelley, Lapak are Mr. and Miss Bowling
April 22, 2005 BY MATT FIORITO FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER Angel Lapak wasn't sure she wanted to come back to the girls bowling team for her senior year at Sterling Heights Stevenson. Fellow Stevenson senior John Kelley, however, never wavered. After a disappointing end last year, he couldn't wait to get back for his final season on the boys team. Lapak had second thoughts, but she returned, giving the Stevenson girls the leadership they needed to finish second in the Class A finals. She and Kelley both had silver-medal finishes in the singles finals. But Kelley took the Titan boys a step further, lifting them to the state title. Their accomplishments also earned them bookend honors. Kelley was named the state's Mr. Bowling, while Lapak rules as Miss Bowling, the top annual award for seniors named to the dream team.

    Bowling
2004 Season - May 13th through August 26th The TSRI Summer Bowling League is a summer league that bowls the 2nd Thursday of May through the last Thursday of August. This is a fabulously fun handicapped league which means that the least experienced bowler can trounce the most experienced bowler on any given Thursday. We bowl at Sunset Bowl in Clairemont. Teams are comprised of 4 - 6 bowlers - 4 teammates bowl each Thursday, one of which must be female. The cost is $12 per person per week. All returning team captains have checked-in for 2004. This year, Sunset Bowl did some league shuffling which opened up three team spots on our league. If you wish to bring in a team for the 2004 season, please email Bette at sports@scripps.edu prior to May 7th. These spots tend to go quickly! Much to our heartbreak, Sunset Bowl was sold to developers last week and will be leveled for a new condominium complex late next year. That leaves us only this summer and next to bowl at Sunset Bowl. So if you've been considering joining the league, now would be a good time since the alley is conveniently located to TSRI and we'll only have this convenience for two more summers. 2004 Bowling Roster
