Lady Bears Bowling Team Making Big Moves
By Jacob Jennifer Published: Tuesday, March 12, 2002 A lot of you don't even know we have a bowling team here at Morgan.  Not only do we have a team but they are actually good.  Very Good. The team of seniors Julie Hylton and Janelle Lewis, junior Lee Ann Lewis and freshmen Katrina Simms and Heather Kilgore are number 19 in the power rankings in national collegiate competition of hundreds of schools. The team finished second in their division in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and second in the MEAC tournament.  Lewis made the all-tournament team.  They also compete in the Eastern Pennsylvania Maryland Intercollegiate Conference (EPMIBC) where they finished second during the regular season and second in the tournament.  Hylton and Lewis won the doubles, Lewis won the singles and won all events as well as making the all tournament team according to Coach J. Brown. "The young ladies have done a great job this year, competing against some of the best universities in the country," said Brown.

Bison Bowling In A League Of Its Own
By Zakiyah Williams Published: Friday, November 12, 2004 Many Howard students are oblivious to fact that the campus has a bowling team; they are also unaware of the many accomplishments, championships and titles that the team holds. The amount of hard work and effort that go into being a member of the bowling team cannot be measured. Not only is the team demanding but it also strives for excellence and perfection.
From Nov. 11-13, 2004 the Lady Bison Bowling team is heading to the annual MEAC Championships being held in Laurel, Md. The team is excited and ready for a chance to take home the MEAC Championship title this year. Nothing would make the hard work of the season more worthwhile than a MEAC Championship title next to their names. Last season, the Lady Bison placed first in 2003 Northern Division.
At the head of every great team is a great coach. The Lady Bison Bowling team is lead by Head Coach Lillibeth Jones. Coach Jones, a Howard University alumna, was also a member of the Lady Bison Bowling team. She knows, and has experienced first hand, the strenuous demands that come every bowling season. Starting out in September, the Lady Bison competed against other schools along the eastern coast for a chance at breaking records and achieving their personal bests.

Howard Bowling Strikes Gold on the Road
By Kaneicia Brown Published: Tuesday, October 14, 2003
Head Coach Curtis Butler has been busy. He's been building a team of assassins...and they're all women.
The six women, Brittany Dean, Devin Defachard, Clarissa Maddox, Lillibeth Jones, Kimberly Williams, and Shawntia Alexander comprise the Howard University Women's Bowling Team. They're out to kill pins, not people.
Only five bowlers are required to make a team. Nevertheless, Howard offers and funds full scholarships just the same as other varsity teams.
For the bowling team, good things do come in small packages. So good, actually, that the Lady Bison remain undefeated after three tournaments. That is a sign of great things to come for Butler.
"This year, we have a very strong team," said Butler, who is in his fourth season as head coach. "The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is undefeated as well. This year, we can be as strong as them."
UMES won the MEAC Bowling conference title last year.

Members of the Evanston Cricket Club were in James Park on Sunday to play the sport that originated in England during the 12th century. The game, which is similar to baseball, is popular in many parts of the world, including India, New Zealand, South Africa, Jamaica and the United Kingdom. Cricket is played between two teams, each with 11 players. As in baseball, one team bats, while the other fields, or in cricket terms, bowls. The goal of the bowling team is to record outs (called taking the wicket), while the batting team tries to score runs. When the bowling team takes enough wickets, the teams switch, with the batting team bowling and the bowling team batting. The game ends after two innings or time expires. "I came to Whitewater because of the elementary education program," she said. "My freshman year, I took a bowling class and somebody told me about the bowling team." The rest, as they say, is history. Pasterczyk, now a junior, has come a long way since her freshman year. The Whitewater bowling program has come even further. When Pasterczyk was a freshman, Whitewater's bowling program was a club sport. Getting to tournaments was on a "who can drive" basis.
