Jeremy isn't driving a new Mercedes or sporting a $60 million Nike contract like Tiger. "I am amazed," said Jeremy, "at the people who ask for my autograph" Jeremy didn't disappoint the dozens of fans... who cheered him on as he shot yet another 300 game to add some excitement to the event. "The idea that we can all have such a great time bowling while raising thousands of dollars for a worthy cause like leukemia research gives me a really great feeling,"
October 21, 1997 Collegiate bowler registers "firsts" by Jan Leasure What Jeremy may not realize is that the tremendous visibility that he received under the spotlight of bowling the "900" has reflected in a most unique and positive way for the sport of bowling itself. Jeremy may unknowingly end up being the single-most positive catalyst that helps shine new respect on a sport that has traditionally fought for it's place to be viewed as more than a pizza and beer recreation. "I am amazed," said Jeremy, "at the people who ask for my autograph whenever I walk into a bowling center. It warms my heart when junior bowlers ask me questions about bowling and tell me that they would like to bowl as well as I do. I understand because I still feel this way about the pros that I admire like Amletto Monacelli. I almost couldn't believe it myself when I had the honor of conducting a junior bowling clinic with Amletto just prior to the Lima Ohio Regional in September at a local middle school. For me this was a dream come true."

The Net provides us with a whole new method of communication and thankfully - the Net goes Bowling! Any column about Bowling and the Internet would be remiss without a mention of one of the Web's most comprehensive, entertaining and intriguing sites of all- The Complete Bowling Index The most fun that I had on the Net this week was visiting, reading and reviewing Collegiate Bowling Home pages My only disappointment is that of the dozens of colleges that have teams that participate in inter-collegiate competition, only a handful of them offer Home pages.
October 15, 1997 Collegiate bowling surfs the net! by Jan Leasure "The Net!" These two little words have taken on a whole new meaning in the '90's! Hair net? Fish net? Butterfly net? I don't think so! "The Net," today can only mean one thing-The Internet! The Net provides us with a whole new method of communication and thankfully - the Net goes Bowling! The Internet and various forms of on-line e-mail services allow college students today to keep in touch instantaneously. These same services allow us to obtain some great information about our favorite sport-Bowling-if we only know where to look. The most fascinating site that The Complete Bowling Index turned me on to was the Official Web Site of the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. Hey, if you can't afford a trip to St. Louis this week to visit the museum in person, a quick visit to the web-site is the next best thing. Although I loved the interesting facts and memorabilia, my favorite Museum page was the on-line bowling quiz. Your score is tabulated on a bowling score sheet-my score was only 150! You receive an "open" for every incorrect answer and of course a "strike" if you are right. One question surprised me-they ask what year the only sanctioned "900" series was bowled, but they never provide the name of the bowler who shot the honor score! If you know the answer, you can enlighten me by e-mailing me at: SKUZME@aol.com. Visit the museum on-line at: www.Bowlingmuseum.com and see if you can top my quiz score!

Billiards and others lobby for spot at 2004 Olympics
Click here for more on this story Posted: Friday December 10, 1999 12:58 PM LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) An Olympic gold medal for parachuting? That's one of the scenarios being contemplated by the International Olympic Committee as it considers possible new sports for the 2004 Summer Games in Athens, Greece. The IOC said Thursday it has received requests from more than a dozen recognized sports federations to be added to the Olympic program in Athens. The list includes parachuting, billiards, underwater swimming, roller skating and surfing. There are also several sports that have been lobbying for years: golf, ballroom dancing, bowling, rugby, squash and racquetball. And then there's the sport that is considered the favorite for becoming a new medal event in Athens: water skiing.

Results Athletes Bowling dates back at least 7'000 years, to a time when Egyptians left remnants of the earliest known form of the sport in their tombs. Polynesians have enjoyed their version of the sport for several centuries. The term 'kegler' may derive from the 3 rd century AD, when German peasants who enjoyed the sport carried a club known as the kegel, not unlike the Irish shillelagh, for protection. Over time, wooden balls replaced stones and pins were substituted for the kegel. The Dutch developed bowling. By 1650 the sport encompassed nine pins set in a diamond pattern toward the end of a 90-foot lane (track). Tenpin bowling, which features a 60-foot lane and pins set in a triangle pattern, is believed to have derived from the Dutch version. Scoring for strikes and spares came about during the mid-century when heavier bottle-shaped pins replaced the earlier tall and slender version. Bowling's Popularity: There are more than 200'000 elite-level bowlers worldwide. More than 100 million people bowl in all corners of the globe, including 10 million who compete in organized events an average of 40 times a year. Bowling is free of drug and substance abuse.

Towel Whipping is a Strategic game. infact it is a very conceptual game to do. You have to position the whip and give enough force for the whip to hit the destination. its alot of hard work. Maybe more difficult than Hockey.

CURLING WAS WELL RECEIVED at the 2002 Winter Olympics, and extensive TV coverage gave many people their first look at the sport, which has been described as a combination of shuffleboard, pool, chess, and bowling on ice. Curling has long been considered to be in the same general sporting family as bowling because the approach to the line is similar and the goal of each competitor is to smoothly slide an object at targets a set distance away. If the Olympics can welcome curling, why not bowling? After all, curling has only a fraction of the participating countries and competitors that bowling enjoys.

Open letter to International Olympic Committee
by Larry Matthews and Sam Baca ( 9/1/98 )
An Open Letter To The International Olympic Committee Subject: Bowling's Inclusion As A Permanent Medal Sport
FROM EVERYTHING we've read and heard about the subject, it is our understanding that the International Olympic Committee has four principal objections regarding bowling's inclusion in the Olympic Games as a medal sport. They are as follows:
1. Bowling is not a sport;
2. Bowling does not present a significant challenge;
3. Bowling competitors are not athletes;
4. Bowling has inequitable conditioning procedures.
Most of those in our segment of the sports community - be they professional bowlers or committed amateur players - know these objections do not stand up to any true measure of scrutiny. To make our case, we'll examine each point individually:
2. Bowling does not present a significant challenge: Unlike most other sports, your adversary in bowling is an inanimate object: the lane. Consequently, it cannot be intimidated by your intelligence, knowledge, experience or physical capabilities. However, it can, and does, provide a variety of competitive challenges. Namely, as the environment undergoes its various transitions - push, carry-down, head breakdown - the competitive dimensions of the game expand to arbitrarily assume different qualities, quantities and other permutations.
