Bird Clubs of New Jersey Updates Bird Clubs of New Jersey is a coalition of the following parrot clubs:
The purpose of this group is to act as a liaison between the member clubs and The NJ State Division of Fish, Game & Wildlife which regulates the possession of "exotics" kept as pets. We will also act as a legislative watchdog to protect the interests and rights of exotic bird owners and their birds throughout the state. We encourage all clubs in the state or those clubs out of state with members from New Jersey to become part of this very important undertaking.
These are the points we would like to see addressed
  • Clarify the terminology and definitions used in the regulations to reduce confusion
  • Exempt all captive birds held since the enactment of the Wild Bird Act of 1991 and their progeny from the Endangered Species provisions of NJAC 7:25-4.14 (b, c, d, and e)
  • Clarify the requirements for the various permit levels. Roll back the cost of the Hobby Permit to $10, and create a Hobby Breeder Permit for small breeders.

BellaOnline's Birds Editor Should You Join a Bird Club? You have a bird (or more) and you enjoy your bird. A friend who also has birds has been telling you that you should join the bird club that he belongs to. Should you join it?
There may be different types of bird clubs in your area. One may specialize in parrot type birds, one in canaries, one in finches and maybe one covers all types of pet birds. The club you join may depend on the type or types of birds you own. One reason to join the club might be the chance to meet other people in your area who have birds as pets. Some of these people may breed birds as well as have them as pets and you may be able to add more birds to your home. Some of the people may have years of experience with birds and may have answers to questions that you are having about the care of your own pet. The club may have monthly meetings with guest speakers who may speak on a variety of topics that you may find interesting. The club may have a monthly newsletter filled with helpful information.

Contact Us About BCA Bird Clubs of America (BCA) was founded in 1992 by Dick Ivy, who felt that America's bird clubs should work together to benefit aviculture. He believed that local clubs could comprise a national alliance which would elevate bird clubs to national notice and which would provide all clubs with direct information and services, while encouraging their individual participation in the many facets of national aviculture. BCA's goal is to provide educational materials to clubs, formatted for use in club newsletters or as handouts at club activities or by breeders.
Consisting of 50 Alliance Clubs and 3 Alliance National Societies While BCA alliance clubs and individuals may donate financial support to help with the cost of supplies and mailings, there are no membership dues. BCA provides alliance clubs with peridocial mailings Our BCA material is there to help editors, officers, libraries, and marts. Alliance Clubs receive peridocially a envelope with a selection of new or revised 3-hole pages for newsletters or other public use.
