Five things to know about the Australian constitution
Irving, Helen
0521603706 Paperback ( 160p; 220mm) 09/2004
Cambridge University Press: Cambridge, UK
Subject: Constitution/Constitutional law
Readership Level: Tertiary/Undergraduate; General
ARP: $ 29.95 Bennett's Price: $25.46
In this excellent new book, Helen Irving delves into the mystery that is the Australian constitution by discussing the major national debates of recent years. Many people want to understand and take part in the debate about constitutional issues but they face a significant hurdle: the constitution is almost unreadable. It does not mean what it says, nor does it say what it means. There are many myths in circulation about what the constitution says and as many assumptions about what it does. Helen Irving, one of this country's foremost constitutional experts, puts various constitutional confusions to rest, and invites a general audience into an understanding of the issues that were once reserved for experts.

43. Chief Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi
(Mermelstein 49) Chief Buthelezi comes from a long line of Zulu royalty datingback to Nelson Mandela A Biography. New York St. Martin’s Press, 1997
http://www.ccds.charlotte.nc.us/History/Africa/02/linge/linge.htm
Chief Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi Many blacks have fought the apartheid system over its numerous years of existence, yet one man emerges as a dedicated and influential leader. Today, Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi stands as a symbol of courage, hard work, and bravery for helping to lead the fight against apartheid. Buthelezi lived much of his life working to obtain his mission of ending the separation of races. There were many setbacks and obstacles, although these were just bumps in the road on his journey to stop apartheid. During the chief's days in the ANC Youth League, Buthelezi became friends with Nelson Mandela and other leaders in the ANC.(Finlayson 89) When Buthelezi reestablished Inkatha, the leaders of the ANC considered Inkatha a useful ally in the fight against apartheid. The ANC joined forces with Buthelezi to present a more unified front against apartheid.(Mandela 313) In 1979, the relationship between Chief Buthelezi and the ANC became troubled. The ANC accused Buthelezi of creating Inkatha as a personal power base and accused Chief Buthelezi of cooperating with the South African Government. Buthelezi charged the ANC At the beginning of 1991, Buthelezi and Mandela sat down to settle their differences. A peace accord was drawn up and signed by the two leaders. However, many black South Africans paid little attention to the accord and ttthe fighting still continued.(Mermelstein 110) Even in peaceful protests the entire Zulu tribe carried weapons which were a part of their traditional dress. If and when a fight broke out in one of these peaceful demonstrations the Zulu protestors had their weapons at hand and were quick to use the weapons. Many deaths were the outcome of this quick use of force.(Maykuth 1)

Mahalia Jackson
Singer Mahalia Jackson has been acclaimed America's greatest gospel singer by world press and publicity. She is certainly the best known, with a career that included television, radio, and concerts. Her early repertoire leaned heavily upon songs of her Baptist beginnings such as "Amazing Grace," and "The Day is Past and Gone." She recorded her first record in May 1937 for Decca, "God's Gonna Separate the Wheat from the Tares," and the Baptist hymn "Keep Me Every Day." From that point on, Jackson's talent and deep-rooted faith ensured that she had the whole world in her hands. Wilfred Mellers, in Gospel Women of the Night, says: "The magnificent voice and the fervent faith are almost inseparable; a voice of such vibrancy, over so wide a range, creates a sound that is as all-embracing, as secure as the womb, from which singer and listener may be reborn."

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
By the Grace of God, of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and of her other Realms and Territories,
Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith Reign: 1952-present
This is the jewel of "Mandy's British Royalty". I adore the Queen, and have taken great care to make this biography page the best. This part of my web page is dedicated to one of the greatest queens, and women, of our time. Her Majesty exemplifies poise, style, and grace under fire. Always keeping a brave face through the trials and tribulations of her reign, Elizabeth was always graceful and courteous throughout all she went through. Please enjoy this page. Elizabeth II, the Queen of England, is the greatest woman who ever reigned. It all began on her Coronation Day June 2, 1953; she inspired mankind as she rode through in her golden coach drawn by grand white horses. She waved to all whom she passed by, smiling bravely as she headed toward her destiny. Her husband, Prince Philip, rode beside her. Dressed in his naval uniform, he wore layers of shining gold epaulets, waving and occasionally saluting the crowds with a white-gloved hand. Once they arrived at Westminster Abbey, they were heralded by trumpets, and throngs of people cheered. Elizabeth, taking over after her father died of lung cancer, was the first reigning queen since Victoria. The ceremony was broadcast on the radio around the world. At Elizabeth's request, it was also broadcast live on the television, the newest media device at the time. With the coronation televised, it brought home the splendor and the significance never before seen to hundreds of thousands of people.

Name at birth: Louis Philippe Marie Victor King Leopold II is known today as one of the most brutal colonial rulers of the 19th century for his policies in central Africa. He succeeded his father to the throne in 1865 and early on made a reputation as a philanthropist. In 1876 Leopold formed the African International Association and financed an expedition by explorer Henry Morton Stanley to the Congo (1879-84). At a European conference in 1885 Leopold was named sovereign over the Congo Free State (later renamed Zaire and now called the Democratic Republic of the Congo). He then used slave labor and torture to extract raw materials (mostly rubber) and build his personal fortune. By 1908 criticism of his rule forced his withdrawal as sovereign and the region was annexed to Belgium. Leopold's critics included Joseph Conrad

(He is commonly called by his nickname of Harry, though his birth name is Henry.) The Prince is third in line to the throne, after his father and his older brother Prince William . Like William, Harry attended Wetherby and Ludgrove schools; in September of 1998 he entered Eton College. He is due to follow family tradition by entering the Sandhurst military academy in 2005, preparing him for a possible military career. Harry caused a ruckus in January of 2005 when he wore a Nazi uniform to a friend's costume party and photos made their way into British newspapers... The Royal Family revealed in January 2002 that Harry had smoked marijuana on at least one occasion during the previous summer; among other parental measures, Prince Charles sent him to visit a drug rehabilitation center for a day. About the Book
Aura The Ebony Princess is a biography/autobiography of a little girl who imitated adults. She grew up with this ability to act and had to study with the infamous medium Rev. Bo Bo. Their bond resulted into the first African American telekinetic/paranormalist. She is honored on television and radio. At twenty-three, she married into African royalty, a prince from Nigeria. She studied theater and education and received a M.Ed. Raped at eighteen and twenty-two years of age, it left her psychologically scarred. Her faith and belief in God periled her through it all. Her quick wit and sense of humor is woven throughout the biography. The author takes a no nonsense approach to the belief and disbelief in Extra Sensory Perception.
About the Author
Aura is the first world famous African American paranormalist. She is celebrated everywhere for her sports kinesis-telekinesis. She has had an unusual life, reared by an actress and a medium. She married into African Royalty, and at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Lab she stated that she has a conscious ability to "alter" the molecular structure of things for a positive societal change. Her work on national television with pro-sports teams is uncanny. She uses numerous prisoners to do telepathy and teaches them relaxation techniques. She’s taught school a number of years and is currently singing and acting with children in a play about her life. She loves to do seminars on psychic-awareness and positive thinking. She attributed some of her psychic-powers to being raped twice and falling down the stairs while pregnant with her only son. (She also has two daughters.) She says her children supposedly have some of her psychic-talent! For example, her oldest daughter skipped kindergarten and tested into second grade and is presently a psychologist in Human Services at a hospital. Aura’s son is excellent in management and her youngest daughter, age 10, is a noted artist!

Country Life August 25 2005: The Oyster is Their World Recently published about Published 2004: Village Cricket Death and the Visiting Fellow REPORT 32 SEPTEMBER 2005 I sometimes feel like going out with a megaphone I wanted this to be a quiet reflective month at home but somehow it doesn't seem to have worked out quite like that. Part of my problem, I find, is how tiny irritants or diversions are disproportionately time-consuming. For example, after a trouble-free few weeks, the e-mail crashed. I suddenly started getting mad messages when I tried to receive or send. I'm sure lots of you will have had similar experiences. Basically they say "You are an idiot. Your server does not exist. You have configured everything completely wrongly. Examine your settings. Do not try to get in touch with us to help put things right because there is no way of getting hold of us." Faced with this I become impotently incandescent. However the trusty Carl Monaghan, my Cornish computer whiz, came to the rescue in an alarmingly Luddite way. First of all he said that he was going to be in Fowey tomorrow and could he fix it then. I explained that by the time he arrived Penny and I would be on a Virgin train en route to North Yorkshire for the wedding of my son, Alexander. 'OK', he said, 'talk me through it and explain exactly what the messages say'. There was a long silence after I had done so and he said, 'Remember that little box with the two aerials that I brought you the other day'. I said yes, and he told me to go to the back of it, remove the power point, count five and put it back again. Then wait for ten minutes or so and see if I could then connect with the internet and send and receive messages.

    Early life
Haile Selassie was born in the village of Ejersa Goro , in the Harar province of Abyssinia (now Ethiopia), as Lij (meaning one born of royal blood) Tafari Makonnen. His father was Ras ( Duke Makonnen Woldemikael Gudessa , the governor of Harar, and his mother was Woyzero ( Lady ) Yeshimebet Ali Abajifar. He inherited his imperial blood through his paternal grandmother, Princess Tenagnework Sahle Selassie, who was an aunt of Emperor Menelik II and he claimed to be a direct descendant of Makeda , the queen of Sheba , and King Solomon of ancient Israel . Emperor Haile Selassie had an elder half-brother, Dejazmatch Yilma Makonnen, who preceeded him as Governor of Harrar, but who died not long after taking office. He had three nephews and a niece. Tafari was made Dejazmatch ( Count ) at age thirteen. Shortly thereafter, his father Ras Makonnen died at Kulbi. Although it seems that his father had wanted him to inherit his position of governor of Harar, Emperor Menelik found it imprudent to appoint such a young boy to such an important position. Dejazmatch Tafari's older half-brother, Dejazmatch Yilma Makonnen was made governor of Harar instead. Tafari was made a member of the Emperor's personal household of relatives and highborn youth, and was enrolled at the Menelik II school for Nobles (today the Menelik II High School).
