Helping Your Child Be Healthy and Fit
Introduction
Long-term good health is less an accident than the result of good habits and wise choices. To enjoy good health now and in the future, youngsters must learn how to eat, exercise, sleep, control stress, and be responsible for personal cleanliness and reducing the risk of disease. In addition, they need to be aware of what to do in an emergency and when to say "no". Habits that include eating nutritious foods and understanding the relationship between physical and emotional health will help your child grow up healthy. Your child's ability to learn and the chances for a longer and more productive life can be greatly improved by developing and following good health practices.
First of All, Your Child Is Special
The mental and emotional health of your child is just as important as physical health. From the earliest moment, a child needs to feel that he or she is special and cared about by family members and friends. A child who enjoys good mental and emotional health is able to approach new situations with confidence. When children are comfortable with themselves, they can express their emotions in a positive way. As children learn to value themselves and develop confidence in their ability to make responsible decisions, they are building a sense of self-worth or self-esteem.

Government Vision Statement Area 1: Parks and Recreation Goal #1: Blue Springs Boardwalk
The City shall develop a boardwalk on the south and east sides of the new lake that is to be located east of Adams Dairy Parkway. The boardwalk will consist of specialty shops, ice cream shop, restaurants, coffee shop, and an antique carousel with a bike rental for a bikeway around the lake that ties into Adams Dairy Parkway. A trolley will run between the convention center and hotels to the lake to transport patrons for lunch and evening entertainment. Rationale: In order for Blue Springs to expand into a complete community, we need to develop areas of destination for our citizens, places for our citizens to gather and interact with one anothera place for community activities. This boardwalk will also provide hotel and convention guests a form of entertainment at midday as well as in the evenings, thereby enhancing the new hotel and convention center on Adams Dairy Parkway. This area would also draw patrons from surrounding communities. Action Steps:
  • Develop and plan for entire park as well as the location of the boardwalk with City Parks and Recreation Department. It is recommended that the boardwalk have a cohesive plan: i.e. appearance of the shops and other structures should harmonize to give a balanced appearance

Excessive noise, disturbing the peace, and disruptive behavior are all inappropriate actions. Examples of disruptive behavior include pranks; snowball, water, pillow, paint ball or food fights; and roller blading, roller-skating, skateboarding, and long boarding. Students who persist in such behavior could be asked to change rooms, transfer to another housing area, or leave On-Campus Housing. They may also be referred to the Honor Code office. Students may be requested to leave the university if their behavior could result in injury to themselves or others. Normally, students who have been asked to leave BYU as a result of disciplinary action must leave housing within 72 hours after notification by the Honor Code Office or area management. However, in some cases, they may be required to leave sooner.

by: Patricia Marega approver: Richard Lenahan Report Date: Expires: SUMMARY There is no official data regarding the size of the Brazilian market for sporting goods and recreational equipment. Based on estimates provided by local trade magazines, industry experts and data from the Brazilian Import/Export Agency (SISCOMEX), the U.S. Department of Commerce estimates that the total market for sporting goods and recreational equipment in Brazil reached US$ 4.73 billion in 2001, up 1% from the US$ 4.69 billion market size in 2000. In 2002, the market remained stable due to the decreasing exchange rate of the local currency (Real) in comparison to the U.S. dollar and the global economic slowdown. For 2003, market analysts have projected a growth rate of 2-4%. Analysts believe that after electing a new president, the Brazilian economy will tick upwards, and the international and domestic financial situation will improve. Moreover, this sector is expecting grow because Brazilians are becoming more health conscious.
