ASU Women's Basketball History
The 2005-06 season marks the 30th year of Arizona State University sponsoring women's basketball as an intercollegiate sport. ASU also begins its 19th campaign as one of the charter members of the prestigious Pacific-10 Conference. Over the years the Sun Devils have produced five All-America selections, 41 all-conference performers, 41 All-Pac-10 academic honorees and three Academic All-Americans. The first student-athlete to make headlines on the Sun Devil hardwood was Joanie Smith, who played from 1976-78. Smith averaged 23.5 points and became the first ASU female athlete to sign a professional contract when she was drafted to play for the Milwaukee Does in 1978. One of the most celebrated players to help bring national attention to the Sun Devil program is two-time consensus All-American and four-time All-Conference pick Kym Hampton (1981-84), a former member of the WNBA's New York Liberty. In Hampton's final game as a Sun Devil, she exploded for a school-record 44 points against Arizona, closing the books on one of the finest careers in collegiate basketball history. When she stepped off the court that night, she found herself the holder of 49 school records. Hampton's name is still etched in the ASU annals a total of 25 times.

Welcome! This site is for those who are basketball lovers and can enjoy a collection that celebrates basketball history. Within this site you will find a collection of items I find most personal and most meaningful to a player: their game worn jersey, warm up or uniform. From the old days of the New York Celtics and the Philadelphia Sphas to the obscure ABA teams of the 70s (like the Pittsburgh Condors or the Minnesota Pipers) to present-day stars, you can find them all here.If you'd like to casually browse through the collection, I recommend checking out my galleries The galleries break down the collection first by league (NBA and ABA), then by team. To see an enlarged picture of a jersey in a gallery, simply click on it. If you are looking for a specific player, check out my listings which break down the collection by player. Please don't leave without signing my guestbook; this site was a product of a lot of hard work and would appreciate your honest feedback via my guestbook . Finally, if you have any questions about the collection or have a basketball jersey, basketball uniform, or any piece of basketball history, feel free to

The Jaguars sport a 563-418 (.574) record in 34 seasons of varsity competition. USA has advanced to the NCAA Tournament on six occasions and made nine total postseason appearances. USA made its most memorable appearance in 1989, as the program's all-time career leading scorer Jeff Hodge nailed a last-second shot to knock off Alabama, 86-84, in the first meeting between the two schools. The Jags fell to eventual national champion Michigan, 91-82 in the second round. Sixteen Jaguars have been selected in the NBA Draft including Terry Catledge, a first round pick of the Philadelphia 76ers in 1985.

Women's Basketball History
Beginning in 1974, USA's women's basketball has produced teams strong in athletic and academic honors. The first five teams at USA ended their season at the Alabama Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Tournament, but the 1979-80 team broke through the competition to advance to the Region 3 AIAW Tournament in Cleveland, Tenn. Head Coach Jimmy Butler led the team to a 23-10 record, including a 3-0 mark in the AAIAW Tournament with wins over Alabama-Huntsville, Alabama and Auburn. Annie Laurie Witherington and Jessie Brown were both named to the all-America list by Kodak Region III. Year in and out, the Jags made a mark on the conference and the program. Orphie Moore, a letterwinner from 1984-87, became the first Jag to score both a career 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds, a feat only matched later by Adrian Vickers who surpassed both the point and rebound totals of Moore in 1990. Both Moore and Vickers played professionally, Moore in Peru and Vickers in Greece.

HISTORY of PJC SPORTS
Pensacola Junior College held its first day of classes on Sept. 13, 1948 with an enrollment of 128 students. As increasing enrollment produced the demand for student activities, Lou Ross, a social science instructor, introduced PJC's first basketball team in 1949 and coached the first baseball team in 1951. Ross served as the director of athletics and also served as the regional vice president of the National Junior College Athletic Association.
By 1951, intercollegiate sports included basketball, baseball, and tennis, and PJC became a member of a newly organized junior college conference made up of Florida schools.
In 1955, the women's sports program was introduced. Although women students at PJC did not participate in athletics at the intercollegiate level, they did participate in the annual Sports Day held by Florida colleges and universities. The intramural program also began in the mid-1950s under the direction of the Physical Education Department.
By 1963, PJC's athletic program had grown to include basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, track and field, a trampoline team and a swim team. Coach Bill Clendenin lead the men's basketball team to win the 1963 state championship. Since then, PJC has had several conference, state and national championship teams.

... Fantasy Basketball Basketball is a ball game between two teams of five players, played on both indoor and outdoor courts. Players move the ball by passing it or by dribbling it (bouncing it on the floor) while running. The object of the game is to score the most points by throwing the basketball through the hoop, also called a basket, scoring two points for each basket shot from the field. Three points are awarded for field goals made beyond a specified distance from the basket. In the US the standard court is 94-ft long and 54-ft wide, with a backboard at the center of each end of the court, with a metal hoop 10-ft from the floor attached to each backboard. The win over UConn was Rutgers' first over the Huskies since beginning BIG EAST play in 1995.
