Wireless Tim Wabler Position: Associate Vice President for Athletics Tim Wabler begins his tenth year in athletics at the University of Dayton. A former Flyer student-athlete himself, Wabler's primary duties include the administration of all of UD's sports programs and support services. As success on the field has improved, UD student-athletes have continued to maintain a combined cumulative grade point average of 3.12, the best in school history. UD has had 21 Academic All-Americans in the last four years, including seven in 2003-04. Only Nebraska, RPI and Rice had more. Dayton's 177 student-athletes on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll were the third-most in the conference, even though the Flyers participate in fewer A-10 sports than all but one school. UD had the most players on the PFL Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year in 2003. Wabler is overseeing the Athletics' Division efforts to provide top-notch facilities for the next generation of Flyer student-athletes, beginning with the design of the renovation of UD Arena and continuing with a multi-sport complex around the Arena.

Lee Fowler Position:
Director of Athletics
Experience: 4th year at NC State Since Lee Fowler was named Director of Athletics in September of 2000, a new era of athletic excellence has begun at NC State. Not only has the level of talent, expectations and success increased across the board for Wolfpack athletics, but Fowler’s leadership and vision is revamping the landscape of NC State’s athletic facilities. In the 2003-04 academic year, NC State was just was one of only three schools to send its football team to a bowl, and it’s men’s and women’s basketball teams and baseball squads to the NCAA Tournament . The Pack was one of only seven schools to have its football team compete in a bowl game and its men’s and women’s basketball teams advance to the NCAA Tournament and is one of just five schools nationally to have competed in three consecutive bowl games and three consecutive NCAA men’s tournaments. Last season alone, 17 NC State teams (or representatives of those teams) advanced to postseason play. The face of NC State athletics has changed dramatically during Fowler's brief tenure, with major facility renovations and additions underway or in the planning stages. With the financial support of the Wolfpack Club, Fowler has spearheaded an unprecedented capital building program to renew and revitalize virtually every major athletics venue and support facility. The athletics facility master plan calls for $100-$120 million in new construction and renovations through the year 2005.

Gary Barta Position:
Director of Athletics
It doesn't take long to get to know Gary Barta, and once you've met him, you'd swear you've known him for years. He makes you feel comfortable. It doesn't take long to understand his passion for intercollegiate athletics, either. He'll get you fired up about the University of Wyoming. There's his enthusiasm, friendly smile, and his ability to make you feel special. But more importantly, there's his commitment; his commitment to what is right with collegiate athletics; his commitment to the student-athlete; his commitment to the fan base that so loyally supports the program. He is as genuine as a Wyoming sunset. On Sept. 15, 2003, former UW President Philip L. Dubois selected Barta as the school's seventh athletics director, to navigate Wyoming's intercollegiate athletics department through one of its most exciting and critical periods in history.
