Recommendations of The Barbados Marine Trust. Introduction
It has however come to our attention that beach conditions in the Worthing area (Sandy beach), and conditions in the Graeme Hall swamp have been allowed to deteriorate to an unacceptable level over the years, to the extent that if left unchecked, may become a National ecological embarrassment. Over the last two to three, decades changes have been occurring to the southern coastal zone. A wide variety of groins, breakwaters, submerged breakwaters and other modifications to the original coastline, were undertaken. Some of these structures while generating property specific protective benefits have impacted the distribution and long shore transport of biogenous sand in localized areas along that coast.
This has certainly been the case at Sandy Beach at Worthing as the beach has widened so significantly

Derek Gale It gives the impression that Tony Jordan wants to challenge me with his disingenuous letter titled "Do not be deceived and this was not part of God's divine plan" referring to my article "Let's embrace human rights for homosexuals" which was published in your newspaper. However, it appears we have another homophobic Christian : Tony Jordan, like Chandra Deonandan and Mark Mahon, who has a tradition of quoting verses from the Holy Bible, which he has every right to do, but in fact takes them out of context too. Mr. Jordan, we are well aware that the world is filled with unrighteousness, fornication, malevolence, greediness, maliciousness, envy, murder, fraudulence, malignity, whisperers, backbiters, and all the transgressions that are in the world. But I shall inform you these sins are committed by heterosexuals who are time and again Christians and from time to time, by heterosexual non-Christians as well with their own beliefs.

Trinidad and Tobago - Barbados Relations
Good evening, Ladies and Gentlemen, I propose to address you this evening on four (4) matters which have been receiving considerable media attention in recent times. Regrettably, not all of this has been accurate or well-informed. This is not to cast blame on the Media. For good reason, bilateral negotiations on complex and sensitive issues, conducted in good faith, tend to be clothed in confidentiality. When the need for a media release arises, this is usually done by mutual agreement. Departure from this time-honoured practice can create difficulties for the successful resolution of problems.
Now that Barbados has abandoned the bilateral process for a binding settlement by a third party, without any prior notice or intimation to Trinidad and Tobago, the opportunity presents itself for us to set the record straight, and to clear up some of the misinformation, spurious assertions and downright tendentious statements that have characterized reports on the matter of the negotiations between Trinidad and Tobago for a new Fishing Agreement and also for a maritime boundary delimitation treaty.

TT-Barbados Dispute: Gift Speaks Of Hostile Act
Trinidad Newsday Senator Knowlson W Gift, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, on Thursday night addressed the nation on the current dispute with Barbados which he referred to as "hostile" on the part of Barbados and gave the assurance that Trinidad and Tobago would defend itself in the strongest possible way. Here is the full text: Good evening, Ladies and Gentlemen, I propose to address you this evening on four matters which have been receiving considerable media attention in recent times. As you know, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Honourable Prime Minister, Patrick Manning led a delegation to Barbados on February 16 which included the Honourable Kenneth Valley, Minister of Trade and Industry, and myself, as well as the Director of Legal and Marine Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Gerald Thompson. We returned to Trinidad and Tobago immediately following the discussions with Prime Minister Owen Arthur and his delegation, having agreed that a Joint Press Release would be issued in the afternoon after the Barbados Cabinet would have had an opportunity to consider Prime Minister Manning's proposal to deal with the fishing issue.

    Chinese, Barbados PMs Hold Talks
Zhu Rongji Meets Barbados Prime Minister China and Barbados Monday vowed to further promote their mutually beneficial relationship in the 21st century.
During a 90-minute talk between Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji and his Barbados counterpart Owen Arthur today, Premier Zhu said China places great importance on its relations with Barbados, and is willing to join hands to further develop friendship and cooperation in the years ahead.
Arthur, who arrived in the Chinese capital Sunday morning on a six-day official visit, said his country attaches great importance to its relations with China, and holds that maintaining and developing strong relations with China constitutes an important part of Barbados' foreign policy. Zhu added that in the current intricate and changing international situation, strengthening cooperation and common development accords with the fundamental interests and shared aspiration of the people of both countries. "China and Barbados, both developing countries, have friendly relations, and they share many identical viewpoints on major international issues, therefore, we are trustworthy friends," Zhu said.
