Home Info For Christians Bahai Faith One religious group to originate in the past two centuries that has not received enough attention from evangelical Christians is the Baha'i World Faith. Baha'is believe that all of the world's major religions are progressive revelations from God, each designed for its particular historical era. The Baha'i religion teaches that Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Confucius, Jesus, Muhammad, and the Bab (the Persian founder of a nineteenth-century religious movement which laid the foundation for Baha'ism) were all prophets or manifestations of God for their time. However, Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i religion, the successor of the Bab, and the most recent manifestation, is the one who should now be revered and obeyed. Bahai Faith -

Quotes About Spirituality

Bahá'í Faith: The history of the Bahá'í Faith in India started with the inception of the Faith in Iran when Bahá’u’lláh appointed one of the Indian believers as the 'Letter of Living' in 1844-45, the first year of His Ministry. Since then, India is spiritually connected with the Bahá’i Faith. He dispatched one of the distinguished Bahá'í teachers, Jamal Effendi, to teach the Cause of God in the years 1874-75. Jamal Effendi travelled to various parts of India and was successful in attracting many learned people to the Faith. In the beginning of this century, in the early twenties, a few Local Spiritual Assemblies were formed in the primary Indian cities, and by 1944, India had 24 Spiritual Assemblies. At the present, in the 26 Indian States, the Indian Bahá'í Community has 24 State Baha'í Councils, the state level Bahá'í administrative institutions, managing the affairs of over 1450 Local Spiritual Assemblies (locally elected Bahá'i Institutions), and over 2.3 million believers spread over 31829 localities in all parts of the country. India was the 6th country to have the Baha'i Faith introduced to it. The Faith was introduced to the following countires in order: Iraq, Persia, Burma, Caucasus, Egypt, India, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Turkey and Turkistan.

Introduction to the Baha'i Faith
For more than a century, Baha'i communities around the globe have been working to break down barriers of prejudice between peoples and have collaborated with other like-minded groups to promote the model of a global society. At the heart of our belief is the conviction that humanity is a single people with a common destiny. In the words of Baha'u'llah, the Founder of our Faith, "The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens." Baha'u'llah taught that there is one God Who progressively reveals His will to humanity. Each of the great religions brought by the Messengers of God - Moses, Krishna, Buddha, Zoroaster, Jesus, Muhammad - represents a successive stage in the spiritual development of civilization. Baha'u'llah, the most recent Messenger in this line, has brought teachings that address the moral and spiritual challenges of the modern world. The Baha'i Faith upholds the unity of God, recognizes the unity of His Prophets, and inculcates the principles of the oneness and wholeness of the unification of mankind, asserts that it is gradually approaching, and claims that nothing short of the transmuting spirit of God, working through His Mouthpiece in this day, can ultimately succeed in bringing it about.

    Bahai faith
Religion founded in Iran in the mid-19th century by Baha' Ullah. It emerged from Babism when in 1863 Baha' Ullah asserted that he was the messenger of God predicted by the Bab. Before his death in 1892, he appointed his son 'Abd ol-Baha to lead the community. The writings of the Bab, Baha' Ullah, and 'Abd ol-Baha form the sacred literature. Worship consists of readings from scriptures of all religions. Baha'i faith proclaims the essential unity of all religions and the unity of humanity. It is concerned with social ethics and has no priesthood or sacraments. Because of its 19 initial disciples, it considers the number 19 sacred, and the calendar consists of 19 months of 19 days (with four additional days). Adherents are expected to pray daily, fast 19 days a year, and keep to a strict ethical code. Baha'i has experienced major growth since the 1960s but has been persecuted in Iran since the fundamentalist revolution of 1979.

    Quotation:
" We desire but the good of the world and happiness of the nations....That all nations should become one in faith and all men as brothers; that the bonds of affection and unity between the sons of men should be strengthened; that diversity of religion should cease, and differences of race be annulled... Yet so it shall be; these fruitless strifes, these ruinous wars shall pass away, and the "Most Great Peace" shall come.... These strifes and this bloodshed and discord must cease, and all men be as one kindred and one family.... Let not a man glory in this, that he loves his country; let him rather glory in this, that he loves his kind. " Baha'u'llah, (1890)

    Overview of the Baha'i Faith
The Baha'i Faith began as an offshoot of Babism, which itself was an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam. Babism was a radical millennarian sect that arose in the mid-1800's in Persia, what is now Iran. It was founded by Sayyid Muhammad Ali Shirazi, a merchant and mystic who studied in a religious school devoted to prophecies of the appearance of the Qaim, a messianic figure who was expected by Shi'ite Muslims to appear at the end of the world. In 1844 he decided he was this figure, and began calling himself the Bab ("Gate" in Arabic) who would be the new mediator between God and man and would conquer the world and transform it into a spiritual paradise. Many clerics and revolutionary thinkers in Persia at the time decided to follow the Bab, and initially he encouraged his followers to attempt to overthrow the Persian government through militant means. This approach led only to slaughter of many
