GREENWOOD MILITARY AVIATION MUSEUM website: http://gmam.ednet.ns.ca/ The award winning Greenwood Military Aviation Museum should be at the top of the list if you are at all interested in Aviation History and Heritage. Located just outside of the of the front gate of 14 Wing/CFB Greenwood, the museum boasts over 9,000 sq ft of display space full of ever changing exhibits reflecting the history of the units who, over the years, called Greenwood "home". Within the Museum, lies over 60 years of Military Aviation History. Permanent displays include a WW II observation tower, the largest collection of WW II aircraft models in the Maritimes, uniforms, aviation art, photos and a research library. Aircraft on display include the only Lancaster in Canada which suffered battle damage during its operations over Fortress Europe, The only Lockheed P2V7 Neptune in Canada, a Mk I Argus, a mounted T-33 and a famous Canadair Tutor #155 which saw service with the Canadian Forces Snowbirds as well as the Golden Centennaires. A new exhibit that will enthrall young and old is the only Argus Tactical Crew Procedures Trainer in existence. This trainer has been completely restored and tours are conducted through this exhibit several times per day or on an as required basis.

The museums are about a mile down the roadway from this junction. Although the roadway is relatively narrow it has several passing places and is suitable for coaches. Admission charges Description Displays and exhibits within the museum depict the history of the airfield and vividly show the work carried out by the 801st (Provisional) / 492nd Bomb Group, especially during Operation Carpetbagger, and their secret missions to deliver agents and supplies to resistance groups in Occupied Europe during the Second World War. Other exhibits and displays include the secret work of the British Special Operations Executive from their RAF base at Tempsford; the cold war roles of the airfield at Harrington with the Thor rockets; and the Royal Observer Corps. Nearby in the former Paymaster nissen hut, and also forming part of the Harrington Aviation Museums, is the Northants Aviation Society Museum. This contains many remains of recovered World War II aircraft and other fascinating items of equipment and memorabilia.

On November 11, 1989, it was opened to the public in the 40th Anniversary of the Founding of Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. On April, 1991, the air force official ratified its name as the "Air Force Aviation Museum". In the foreign exchanges, it is called as the China Aviation Museum. The museum was founded on part of an airbase; the runways are a mile distant and are connected to the museum by a long taxiway, which is also used as access for the traffic. Next to the museum the taxiway continues up the hill; in the hill is a large U-shaped tunnel, which, in the operational days of this part of the airbase undoubtedly sheltered numerous aircraft. Near to the taxiway there are some aprons and a hangar, so there is room for many, many aircraft, mostly military but also some civil ones. At present, the aviation museum collected more than 200 airplanes with the types exceeding 100, and weapon and equipped samples like ground-air missile, high cannon, radar, aviation bomb and aviation cameras. Among which, lots of them are the precious cultural relics of the country and world aviation treasure works.

It used to be an airplane show room for teaching practice and reference for aircraft structure design. In March 1985, the show room was turned into an aviation museum. On October 25, 1986, it was opened to the public. The task of the museum is to support the teaching and popularize the scientific and technical knowledge of aviation. The museum, divided into the indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, occupies a space of 9,700 square meters. The indoor exhibition area consists of two halls, the east and the west, with a total area of 600 square meters, while the outdoor exhibition area occupies a space of 8,500 square meters. On display in the East Hall are mainly various kinds of aircraft models and photos and the models of jet engines, a Thunderbolt No. 2 air-to-air guided missile and a model of Chinese experimental communication satellite launched in 1984.

TANGMERE MILITARY AVIATION MUSEUM The Museum was opened in 1982 with exhibits depicting 70 years of military aviation in Sussex, with special emphasis on the RAF at Tangmere and the air war over southern England from 1939 to 1945.
