27. Coastal Computers, Inc. - Preserved US Military Aircraft
List of US military aircraft on display and links to aviation museums.
http://www.coastcomp.com/av/pres/index.htm
Preserved US Military Aircraft
This list of US military aircraft preserved and displayed was originally compiled by Ben Marselis with input from many others. He posted it on the newsgroups and we asked him if we could host it here. With his cooperation, we have converted it to HTML and added URL's for pictures and technical data.
This is of course an ongoing project. Ben has moved to Peru, and then on to Egypt, and we haven't heard from him for a while. However, we carry on and would like changes, corrections and additions to the list, as well as links or pictures for the individual aircraft.
Ben's Introduction Rules of the game Ben's Home Page
This entire crackpot project is of course perpetually Under Construction -
Editor's notes as of Late February 2003 :
All of the list pages now have the new format. Individual aircraft listings will be converted as targets of opportunity. I am shifting emphasis to updating the museum web site listings. Of course, individual spot reports and photo contributions will continue erratically.

Over the decades covered by the list, designations and types have become hopelessly muddled. I will try to keep the various lists in as much logical and chronological order as possible, but you may have to look in several to get what you want. In general, reconnaissance versions and other specialized variants will be included with the basic type.

Visit t he WBAC Company Store online. Lots of cool stuff for the Wright people at the right prices. And the proceeds go to help continue our educational work with young people. CLICK!
We recreated working replicas of all five of the experimental airplanes that the Wright brothers made between 1899 and 1903. For the first time ever, visitors were able see these pioneer flying machines and six more! in a single display. We're putting together a virtual tour of the Birth of Aviation Pavilion so those of you who missed the Dayton Air Show can enjoy it too.
Many thanks to the Flight Crew of over 200 volunteers who manned the Birth of Aviation Pavilion. It's estimated that we saw as many as a quarter of a million visitors and you did a stellar job in making the Pavilion a worthwhile experience for them all.
T he Bishop's Kids is our young people's "auxiliary." We meet weekly to learn about the Wright brothers, build airplanes, and experience the ups and downs of pioneer aviation. These kids also help to staff our Birth of Aviation Pavilion.

Yasukuni-jinja
Yasukuni-jinja is a shinto shrine within walking distance of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Attached to the shrine is the Yushukan , or War Memorial Museum which documents several of Japan's wars in the 1800s and 1900s. There's an interesting collection of artifacts, including the first locomotive to traverse the Thai-Burma railway (made famous by The Bridge on the River Kwai), a WW2 tank and Suisei dive bomber, and an extraordinary collection of kamikaze paraphenalia, including an Ohka rocket-powered kamikaze plane, and a Kaiten kamikaze submarine. The English version of this website, however, gives only a little information about the museum and its exhibits.
