Aviation History Magazine - July 2005 Editorial It's aviation's pioneers and innovators who bring life to the industry. One of my favorite aviation recognition programs is the Elder Statesman of Aviation Awards, presented by the National Aeronautic Association (NAA), the keeper of U.S. aviation records. This fine program annually recognizes several individuals who are more than 60 years old and have made significant contributions to aeronautics. I salute this year's awardees: Stanley J. Green

Provides services in management, marketing, project evaluation and development. Based in Anchorage, Alaska.

TECHNOLOGY - AIR CHARTER - CERTIFICATION - MANAGEMENT - MARKETING We don't want to brag about it, but Alaska is where commercial aviation was born in North America - It was never a hobby up here; flying has been an essential part of our daily life from the early 1920's right up to the present. Even today, virtually everything - the people, the groceries, the medicine, the mail - still must travel by air. They say if you really want to understand what flying is all about, come to Alaska . That's an open invitation: Visit us, call us, or E-Mail us. We'd love to discuss the business of flying with you...
Nelson Aviation excels in providing prompt, accurate, and professional services in management, marketing, project evaluation and development for a wide range of companies dealing with the aviation industry. We know where aviation is headed and can show you how to achieve a "Lead Dog's" perspective in dealing with our industry. For example - We have extensive experience with the FAA's revolutionary CAPSTONE Program and we were the first to take an operational ADS-B vector back in 2001. Why waste valuable operational human resources on routine housekeeping functions when we can develop state of the art manuals and PowerPoint training presentations for your company's Flight Operations, Maintenance and Safety departments?

A commonality with the non-commercial sites is that they are created and supported by persons whose principal goal is to freely share their knowledge of aeronautica with others. Interesting Facts
Quick Facts ... Printer-friendly At 4:10 PM on July 16, 1935, the City of Phoenix became the proud owner of Sky Harbor Airport. For $35,300 cash and a $64,700 mortgage, the City purchased 285 acres of land and a few buildings from the Acme Investment Company. In the 1930's, Sky Harbor was not the aviation hub it is today. Sky Harbor was isolated and rural. In fact, Sky Harbor's nickname during the early days was "The Farm." Phoenix Sky Harbor's emergence as one of the nation's major passenger airports began on October 13, 1952, with the dedication of Terminal 1. Built for $835,000, Terminal 1 was among the most modern, convenient and efficient passenger terminals of its time.
