Daily call failing with cachecard - no dial tone
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)
Posted by: mbriody
Just noticed my last two daily call attempts came back with no dial tone. This is on a cachecard (no RAM yet) installed last Friday.
The network is running fine and daily call is set to network (it last worked on Sunday night). Tivo #2 with a turbonet can dial okay so I know its not the servers or my lan.
A test call also gives no dial tone. Anyone know what this means in the context of a network connection?
Posted by: iankb
Are they using different MAC addresses? Posted by: mbriody I'll check... Yes, according to nic_config_tivo. Posted by: mbriody Right, I plugged in a phone line and it is indeed trying to use the phone, regardless of what nic_config_tivo said. So I tried the config again and rebooted and same thing. How can I manually force it to do a network connection instead of using the phone? Is there a config file or setting somewhere?

'Every Day' Activities: Today in History
Many sites offer "This Day in History" resources that are a great way to teach current events, history, and cultural literacy. Imagine a classroom timeline that highlights current events or events connected to historic periods. Add pictures collected from Web resources such as the Library of Congress and LIFE magazine. A great opportunity for learning! Editor's note: Daily reinforcement of basic skills can go a long way toward ensuring that kids learn and retain the skills you teach. You'll see the results of daily reinforcement in end-of-year test scores too! VRI History HISTORY OF THE VEHICLE RESEARCH INSTITUTE Since 1972 more than twenty vehicles have been designed and built by undergraduate students and faculty at the Vehicle Research Institute at Western Washington University. Thirteen of these vehicles have been quite distinctive from each other and built to meet specific design criteria. Over $7,000,000 has been raised by the VRI in grants from government, industry and private individuals to complete the various projects at the VRI. EARLY VEHICLES BUILT AT THE VRI The first car designed and built at the Vehicle Research Institute was Viking I . This vehicle was designed to win the Urban Vehicle Design Competition held at General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan. A unique feature of this car was "extreme Ackerman steering" which allowed the car to be parallel parked in a space only 10" longer than the car. Viking I won the maneuverability and parkability awards and finished 3rd overall in the competition behind the University of British Columbia and the University of Florida. The next vehicle

[delicious-dev] avar.icio.us - yet another del.icio.us posting interface
Yoz Grahame yozlet at gmail.com
Thu Jul 22 21:39:37 EDT 2004 avar.icio.us is yet another del.icio.us posting interface with a dash of Javascript. It looks like the normal posting form, but has a couple of special features: * auto-completion in the tag box * suggestions of related tags you've used before To have a play with it, here's a cached page that uses my own tag history: http://matthau.yoz.com/avar.html http://del.icio.us/USERNAME" in your posting bookmarklets with the installation address (Oh, and your webserver's Perl will need the LWP module, though there's a good chance it's there already) Known bugs and fidgets: 1: Autocompletion works on IE/Win and Mozilloids and very little else, since other browsers (such as Opera and Safari) don't have the necessary Javascript methods for selecting ranges inside a textbox. However, if users of those browsers want to play with the stuff that *should* work (i.e. suggestions) then there's a marked line in the JS source to comment out. (I don't know if it'll completely work, though, as I don't have either of those browsers to test with) 2: I'm not sure about how autocompletion looks, as it only suggests the first match in alphabetical order (though I'm planning on fixing this to suggest the top-scoring match). I've seen another JS autocompletion hack which isn't as pretty but probably more useful, you tell me:

Mon Mar 21 04:37:17 PST 2005 wednus at gmail.com I think we should remind the clear range distinction between web-browser and laszlo application. as the original poster mentioned, the auto-fill is a function of web browser. probably in certain shape, web browser might have stored all the words user filled up, but I doubt at the possibility that a server can dig out such information from an user agent. maybe one can implement this function in server-side, but he/she should need some sort of db backend and also have to concern ip detection and authentification hassles and... ..so I think it's better to store private and local information such as typed keyword at client-side: cookie. (sorry for not supplying some running demo. full of stuffs to do..)

[Nitro-dev] Location of History D/B file
Dawa Ometto dawa at planet.nl
Wed Jul 16 06:14:07 CDT 2003 Hi all, after noticing the bug report about Nitro not lauching if there is no "~/Documents" folder, I checked where other 'net-related apps store their data. Those apps included IM clients Adium, AIM, and iChat, as well as Mozilla, OmniWeb, Safari and Mail. With just a single exception, they all store things like bookmarks, history, etc. in the ~/Library folder. That single exception is iChat storing auto-saved chat logs in the ~/Documents/iChats folder, but that makes sense since that app does not use a true database, but stores each chat session as a separate file. Consequently, I'd suggest moving the file History.db from ~/Documents/Jabber Logs to ~/Library/Application Support/Nitro/. Future versions of Nitro could store custom icons etc. in that folder, too. This new location should also handle the aforementioned bug
